Is it just me or is there really a bug in level 24?

ReplyDeleteI managed to finish level 24 through some creative use of bugs. If you create a portal as high as you can on the right side of the central shaft and a second portal on the floor under the left side, it's possible while cycling through the portals, holding down left and jumping to glitch it high enough that you can shoot through the tube to the exit.
ReplyDeletedo not play this game. it is too frustrating. first you have the bug on level 24. dalton says how to get past that. but then you get to level 32. it is impossible.i know what you have to do to beat the level, but there is not enough room to do everything you need to. i just spent 3 hours trying to tread the needle on that level. it cannot be done.

ReplyDeletedan...before you get bent out of shape, realize that there WAS a bug on that level. it has now been fixed. before the bug fix the energy ball would not be released. without that ball the level cannot be solved unless you find a glitch.

there are bugs in the game, but u dont have to use glitches to pass the level
just toggle the image quality and some bugs will be fixed (e.g. energy balls stuck)
and anyone knows are there any secret in the last chamber?
i tested twice, one time eating the "delicious cake" and one time skipping it by using a portal
but there makes no difference?

You have to get up to were cube is on switch up top, set portal up there, leave cube on switch and jump back down past closing door
set portal at bottom and you got youself and door way to go up and grap the cube and bring it down.
There is always a way with no cheats...
Also on Lvl 36, Does anyone get a message on top of their screen calling you "subject 15837", or does everyone have a different number???

I beat all 40 levels without the use of cheats, walktroughs, bypasses or anything. It's called using logic to out think the game. A walkthru would be a copout and for losers for this one.

ReplyDeleteNot sure if this is cheating, but I used two wierd behaviours. The first is using concerns the robots that fire at you. I loved picking them up from behind. You like rush them and jump over them then pick them up. From there, you can place them in front of you like a shield from other bots, or you can shake them about 90 (after standing them back up without releasing them) and sling them back down to fire them where you want to. Particularly useful in pushing blocks into and knocking over other bots.
ReplyDeleteThe second trick was the magic portal through solid objects trick. I placed the portals such that you get infinite (so called) speed while carrying something. Then work your way to one edge. If the object you are carrying follows you then try again. If not, it will pass through the portal and the wall the portal is on. This sometimes resets the object to its original position, but it can also give you an easy advantage in placing the object, for example on a switch. I found this very useful in the level where you had a switch below to press, and a really long blue bar cooking thing (BBQ chars?) Anyway, I could never time it to run all the way to the portal on the wall before it vaporized me, so I used this trick to place an object on the switch without going down to the lower level. To control the object after you get it below the ground, you have to run farther than where you want to place it just slightly, then release it and run back before the switch opens the door and you fall in. Although this helped at one point I fell in anyway. I used the stair stacking technique of the blocks a few levels early to get back up, but normally two blocks don't get you that high. I used another trick I call the stairway to heaven. You can actually build a vertical column while standing on it. Just jump with the cursor below you and release the block you are carrying. Not only will you get a higher platform but when you bounce off it, you will go about twice as high as you would normally jump. Oh, and in case you are having trouble with the blue bbq makers, it follows a pattern of 2 or 3 off and 5 on. So to get the maximum distance while crossing with it off, wait till it comes on, count out 5 seconds and when you count 5 start running like mad! Or if it helps, use down portal and a cross portal to launch yourself across before you get zapped. One other cool thing, is if you have good timing and coordination. You can make some odd leaps though some of the levels by placing portals in certain orders such that you just keep popping out of one into another. That is, whatever wall or floor you are heading towards when you come out of a portal, shoot your next one there. I even jumped through a wall a time or two doing this, and one level had a nasty habit of throwing me below the floor to my death, so use with caution.
One other thing you might not be aware of. You can throw objects! say you have a few segments to cover before the bot that is on the other side of a portal, but all you have on this side is a block and a horizontal portal. A vertical one could have helped by giving the speed boost, but don't fret. Send your cursor back and forth rythmically while holding the block and release it as it is entering the portal. You'll be suprised how far it actually goes.

ReplyDeleteLevel 32, it's timing for me.
Create portal on ceiling & another at the upper opposite wall of your entrance to change your fireball direction from vertical to horizontal.
Quickly switch off portal (if you're not fast with your mouse) by pressing "R" key. Then create another portal on the ceiling again & another on the floor facing the door.
Here's where you must have a good timing.
Wait till the fireball just bounce off the oppsite wall of entrance, JUMP & try to create another portal on the upper level wall (the entrance side), once success, quicly create another portal where the fireball bounce & it should get rid of the robot in the middle.
Go to the mid bottom area. Stand at far right corner & try to create a portal on the ceiling.
After jumping on the ceiling, quickly make another jump & hop behind the robot (they take a while to shoot) & distory it.
Put cube on top button, create portal on Top side wall which is opposite the fireball reciever, jump over to the ledge & create another at the top ceiling where the fireball hit in the beining.
Next jump down & stand on bottom button & wait for the fireball to reach the reciever.
Once done. Switch place with the cube, bring it down & hold the lower button while you go up & stand on the top button; when the gate opens, create a portal on the last wall.
The rest should be easy. ;>

There are no bugs in portal and there is a way to beat every level, you're just not smart enough, cause i managed to beat all the levels fairly easily some took 15 min to figure out

Wow...I beat the whole thing w/o any help or anything...I even found my own shortcuts...and didn't find any bugs. After last level you get cake like in the last one (it's got poison in it(JK(no really I'm kidding)once you get on the other side you automatically get it >.>) Anyway...if you can beat this thenyou can't think right. Sorry...I did beat every level in less than like 5 minutes though...seriously.

Everyone has a different way of thinking, and not all are logical. By the way, I got to level 37 or so, but I had to skip around six levels just to get there. :/
Only decided to leave a post due to the stupidity of a lot of people here, mainly sidd finch. It is possible to finish the game i did it, was fairly easy, i didn't use the bug, it is simple and if you can't figure it out it jsut means you aren't good at puzzles lol.

The crazy thing... I got to level 37 before I realized you could pick up an object!!! It's doable, without cheats, without walkthroughs, & apparently almost without picking up objects...
ReplyDeleteHow do I do lv. 13? I'm 14, if we're bragging about our ages, but not the most logically minded. It's a piece of cake getting to level 13, but I simply cannot figure out how to get past the electric panel-things! How did other people do it? I've tried giving myself some extra time by using a portal to launch myself onto the electric pads, but it simply doesn't work.

ReplyDeleteI found out that you can go start from the beginning and press ~ and then type in the cheat "previouslevel" and then you can go to level 0 where in the backround it says "ZOMGOWNED" It's fun to just play around there and it barely lags if you use a whole bunch of cheats. It's also fun to spawn like a million weighted storage cubes ("createbox") and mess around with them.

To defeat lvl 34 is to spawn blocks on both buttons. By standing on one button and spawn one box the button. and repeat.

ReplyDelete@marc.alberts All you need to do if you ever get stuck on a level is this: Go to options, find console and turn it on, then resume, then press "~" it should have opened a screen, then type "nextlevel" and press enter, once you do that the game will send you to the next level. There are MANY more little codes like this, I even found one to create the companion cube. :)
