    ReplyDelete
  81. but if note for 4 digit key is in room 21, that's not possible. I need red key to get into that room.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Yahoo! I can die a happy man now. Played again and finally got all 50 orbs/gems in a Selfdefiant game.

  147. Brilliant walk-through small-tool.

Thanks once again to Selfdefiant for best escape games

    ReplyDelete
  148. Oh, and no bugs found Selfdefiant, so you're day is made.
And thanks of course for another great game.

    ReplyDelete
  149. @ Selfdefiant - Thanks again for a great game! Just a few of the things, there are too many to list all, that I appreciate about your games are...

    1. Autosave
    2. Flashlights work - no looking for batteries, usually.
    3. Selected items such as hammers, screwdrivers, etc., are "repeatably clickable" in a given scene. I hate it when an item has to be "dragged" over and over into a scene to be used.
    4. Screwdrivers that unscrew all screws at the same time.
    5. The addition of a map is great too.
    Thanks again...

    ReplyDelete
  150. Came back to see who won the W/T contest.

Excellent job S-T, as always, especially the bold items.
I know how time consuming that is, but it really helps if your looking for a particular hint, but don't want to ruin the game by reading every comment.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Wonderful game again Selfdefiant - Thank you for keeping us entertained

it was easier this time - or perhaps we are getting to know your little tricks -lol-

    ReplyDelete
  152. Like Bumjelly said, and let's add some more.
    - Great graphics (really like the creepy atmosphere)
    - Codes that are not too hard and not too easy (although they sometimes could be a little bit more difficult).
    - A maze of rooms, but not in an annoying way (like in a lot of other games).
    - No pixelhunts (a very important one IMHO)
    - The frequency they appear.
    - No bugs (and if there are the gamemake himself is there to fix it and comment about it).
    - The way things are logical (lighting candles or a fireplace with a match or a lighter, needing goggles to find a key under water etc.).
    - And about some negative comments on the previous game. It's like Selfdefiant (and zoz) said; you can't please them all, but for me it's like a sudoku or crossword in the newspaper. They're basically always the same, but always fun to do if you like them.

And thanks Knotaklu, but it wasn't really a contest, just said that for fun

    ReplyDelete
  153. rofl @Zoz...I am still in the Asylum after the 35th room ;) Found all orbs in this Asylum though so it's back to the Abandoned Asylum for me...lol!!

@Self-Defiant...thank you again for a great game...so happy you are feeding our frenzied addiction so often :)

    ReplyDelete
  154. Thanks for yet another excellent game @Selfdefiant!! I second the comments from Bumjelly and Small-tool!
Got out on my own with 50 orbs, which is always a pleasure... but it WAS a bit easier than the previous games I think.

About the map... I could write perfectly well on my map until I accidentally clicked "Menu" and had to chose "Play" to get back into the game. My text in the box was saved, but not the drawings (which you tell will happen, so that's alright), but also I couldnt draw anything new on the map.

To be able to draw again (still with the text saved) I had to refresh the whole page, then click "Play" - worked perfectly fine again. This happened to me twice during the game... I know, I should stay away from the "Menu"-button!!

Thanks again for all of your wonderful games!

    ReplyDelete
  155. This is the best in the series by far. Thank you for not hiding objects on speckled backgrounds this time! Was able to finish (with 44 orbs) without looking at the walkthru (typically resorted to in order to find a tiny object, or to find where on the wall to hammer, or find the one bathroom tile that was loose). Thank you making the piano puzzle doable for me. Still love the map, I put colored lines matching the door keyholes. BRAVO, a rare 5 stars!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  156. Thanks everyone! I am always happy to hear that you like the game(s). I will try to make the next one a bit trickier! :)

    ReplyDelete
  157. Self Defiant, thank you for your great games, and especially for moving the clear button away from the color change button. Last game I accidentally clicked clear - ugh - had to start all over again.

    ReplyDelete
  158. @small-tool: Great WT, but then I expect nothing less from you :P
@Bumjelly and @small-tool: I really couldn't have said it better regarding the things that are great about Selfdefiant games! (btw, what kind of name is "Bumjelly"? It's almost [but not quite] as bad as "my_butt_smells"!)
@Ellie, I agree with you (I usually do!) that this one wasn't as difficult as others, but I'm not complaining!
@Knotaklu: regarding your comment "Yahoo! I can die a happy man now." I was always so certain that you were female! Live and learn...
    And finally,
@Selfdefiant: You give us all such joy when you post a new game because we know that we'll be challenged and will have to find our way through various mazes and obstacles, and (we hope, ultimately) be rewarded with a good finish. Thank you so very much for all of that! I hope that these comments make you happy, too!

p.s. My sister plays these games as well but doesn't post. I was on the phone with her recently and she grabbed a piece of paper to write something down on, and laughed because on the paper she had sketched a map from a Selfdefiant game! My point? For everyone who posts here, there are probably at least 100 other followers who don't post!

  159. thanx for a great game again selfdefiant!!

  160. Thx SD! I missed it live, but it's the first one I solved without any help or hints!

    ReplyDelete
  161. @zoz, that is great about the paper with a map on it. I have at least 4 notebooks with all of my games drawn on them. I found one a few weeks ago and laughed, it had been so long since I had seen it. I think I found SSSG 11. I never imagined that other people would do the same.

  162. SD - I always draw my own map and make notes where I found what and where what has to be done - so I can find my way around without having to open your map. And it is also much easier to help other people
    that way.
But your map is great for reference and checking that I have not missed a room.

    Lets keep the games coming!

  163. To Selfdefiant:
I'd like to echo the appreciation points of Bumjelly [I can barely bring myself to type that. Just let me go and wash my hands a second; they feel grubby *giggle*], small-tool and Ellie's, and another one is the supernatural frequency with which you fulfill our craving for your games! I was sensing a lot of us getting the "jitters"!
I managed on my own this time, but only because of past Sneaky Selfdefiant tricks =)
Not finding any is just as effective as discovering them, for instance, my ex-husband was driving himself frantic one April Fool's Day, looking for my prank - at midday I declared him an April Fool because for once, I hadn't played any =)
You owe me an hour's sleep again, by the way, but I'm sure you can have none to spare.
Thank you again for a brilliant game. I'm happy to be a fan!
To zoz.... you are SO right about the "hidden" followers!

  164. I've just read through the comments...
I love small-tool's walkthrough. For any new player of Selfdefiant's games it's nice and precise, with Rachel's map, and the bold type bits are ideal, as Knotaklu pointed out, for "Hint-pickers".
    [ @small-tool:
I can't remember how you do that, could you please post the notation again, sometime?]

To anyone who has a problem with adverts knocking them out of games...
I use the Maximize button to fit the window to the game exactly, and recently a very good friend showed me how to get the AdBlock add-on for FF. Until he gave me this I couldn't even have the EG24 site open for many minutes, because of my tiny old computer and slow connection. Adverts crash me right off the internet, especially moving ones.

@Tiquer, I do that with the keyhole colours, too. For silver, I use grey with a little bit of cyan to highlight the centre. [creative tip there, haha]
Gold is orange with a yellow streak.
I use a paper map to compliment the in-game one, so I'd never want to be without either of them!

    @Selfdefiant:
I plan on replaying all your games as soon as I've forgotten them a bit, and intend to use my paper maps in case I need hints.
You are an artist! You should keep all your notepads!
Good Grief! Can't I ever write short posts?

  166. @ selfdefiant: thanx a lot, beautiful game, for first time out without any help, found 50 orbs

  167. I'm late, wish I could have played this live, but just have to say thanks @selfdefiant!!! I found 50 orbs, too!

Once again - THANK YOU for listening to us and making all the great changes as you go along with new things and ideas. The interactive map was a brilliant idea - saves us from getting lost! I think that might be why some people think these games are easier. It used to be harder to remember where things were, etc.

  168. Thanks again Self defiant. Your games are the best!

  169. Another great game and I finally got out without recourse to the walkthrough - of which I am in awe though! I always get too excited when I am near the end and forget to collect the orbs, so I missed a couple .. next time i shall watch out for a nice orb-through.
Many thanks, to self-Defiant - for all the reasons everyone else has so eloquently expressed - to Rachel for the numbers- and to all the helpful hinters who saw me through this. One day I will catch one live and probably be totally unable to help - but I want to try!

  170. Selfdefiant. Thank you so much, outstanding quality, as always.

  171. @ Rookwings and zoz: You guys crack me up!

Bumjelly comes from the names of our 2 Labrador dogs, Bum and Jelly. Both were named by our kids at the time. "Bum" because he was one and "Jelly" from being a jealous sort.
It has nothing to do with anything "naughty" but I see where it could be taken that way by a certain mindset, of which I have too, and can certainly appreciate. I think that last year one of the regulars, Ellie I think, asked me about the name too.
    Now, about that "small-tool" guy...

  180. Thank you @Selfdefiant. Nice, fun game. I second (or third or tenth) all the above comments!

    ReplyDelete
  181. There must be a bug, considering that I had 48 Orbs, Then when I took the next orb it knocked me down to 46 and the next orb then took me to 47. And NO it was not 45, it was 48, I was counting on a seperate piece of paper the whole time.

  183. does anyone know where the purple key is???

    ReplyDelete
  184. Yep Alyssa, I know where it is, that's why I wrote this in the walkthrough;

KITCHEN ? (1 on the map, bottom row, left room)
    - Zoom in on the hanging white box in the back and use the arrows hint to open it, so click up-right-up-down-left-up-down and then the button to open it and take the PURPLE KEY.
