  1. Pfew this is gonna be difficult. The more you walk around the more rooms there are.
Anyway black key in room BG from anagramming the hint in room AM. (only use the first 4 letter places!).

    ReplyDelete
  2. Black key used on the chest in AR for the flashlight (to be used in AD)

    ReplyDelete
  3. @small-tool,

    Thank you !

    ReplyDelete
  4. I just mapped the whole thing on paper... before finding the map! Oh well. Thanks for the tip, small tool, I was trying to think of a 7 letter name for the AM word.

    ReplyDelete
  5. And then you can get a silver key in N to use in R for the rope...

    ReplyDelete
  6. second post about a black key? I can't find a thing. lol

    ReplyDelete
  7. Pfew, I've seen a hole somehwere and I guess the bucket and rope are used there, but where was it again?

    ReplyDelete
  8. How do I get started????

    ReplyDelete
  9. Ah, the hole was in room BL and only the rope is used there.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Evans,
Start with going up from the startscreen to get the map.

    ReplyDelete
  11. had to restart, for some reason I could only go up to locked gate and not sideways, working now. I might catch up by tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  12. No, no, no, my map gets bigger and bigger :)

    ReplyDelete
  13. thanks in advance for all your clues. i have to run, but i'll be back in an hour. good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Small - just the rope, the bucket is for a well. And the chest in T takes a gold key you get for moving a rock with a power glove (though I don't remember where, I think room H, maybe?) The rope may be used in BL? Or thereabouts?

    ReplyDelete
  15. And out... Wow, that was a huge map, and I love how the map adds rooms as you find them rather than just having them all there!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Got a book by doing the levers in room Y with the hint from room AF

    ReplyDelete
  17. OK, stuck. I can't find a place with water to fill the bucket, I thought I could fill it in N but no luck. Can't find a way to move rock either. I have a magic portal, though.

    ReplyDelete
  18. well in aw (mismarked as ab) but right of av.

    ReplyDelete
  19. knight in bm needs sword

    ReplyDelete
  20. Pfew, I'm so confused. Have to look at the map with every step. Where's the well?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Obviously, I miss rooms BD, BE and BF... (there is a little mistake, room AW is labeled AB).

    ReplyDelete
  22. where is black key. been through the whole maze and find no keys anywhere. Help please?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Ah, found the well now!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Well in AB (right from AV)

    ReplyDelete
  25. The red book opens a portal, but how to use it ?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thanks Q
Have water now, trying to find the fire back again.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Please help. I can't find anything to use anywhere!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Evans - you get the black key for anagraming on pedestals...

    ReplyDelete
  29. Evans,
Start with putting 'rose' as code in room BG

    ReplyDelete
  30. The fire was in room D, but Selfdefiant was very mean. You need two buckets of water there. Anyway new rooms again by putting out the fire.

    ReplyDelete
  31. anagram in BG needs 8 letters. how does rose work there?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Evans,
Only use the first four places.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Powerglove in room C with using the hint from room J

    ReplyDelete
  34. Used powerglove in room I to pull lever and used powerglove in room H to get the golden key.
Now where to use that golden key!?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Pfew, thank you very much Trisana :)
Was running around like a madman. Forgot to mark that room on my map.
    Have sword now.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Welcome, S-T! also, you might want to use the book to put a portal near one of the levers up past the knight...

    ReplyDelete
  37. Gave the sword to the knight in room BM and....
of course new rooms again :(

    ReplyDelete
  38. Pulled lever in BO with powerglove.

    I don't understand the use of book/portalt, Trisana :(

    ReplyDelete
  39. Wow, this is huge, I have to go....I'll just post what I have found so far:
    AF posts
    AB well
    D fire
    H rock
    Will return later...

    ReplyDelete
  40. Pulled a lever in BE with powerglove but it's slowly going back up again :(

    ReplyDelete
  41. we need to find out what the lever does and go to that room and leave your portal from red book there, then pull lever and click book to go back to where you left portal. does that make sense? If anyone knows where to leave portal please post!

    ReplyDelete
  42. S-T: when you click on the book in your inventory, it creates a portal. Then, when you click the book, it teleports you to that portal. If you want to move the portal, click on the portal itself, and then you can put the portal in another room.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Evans - there is no specific room where you need to put the portal. I put it up past the knight, by one of the three levers that go back up slowly. Then I pulled the one to the south, used the book to get back up north/past the knight, and pulled the other two.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Thanks Trisana and Evans,
But does it mean I still have to be very quick to pull the levers in room I, BD and BF?

    ReplyDelete
  45. I put the portal by the lever in the upper right. Then negotiated the tortuous path to the lever in I. Pulled it with the glove. Ported to the upper right. Pulled. Then up and across the top and down to the S lever and then back to the gate and out.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Fairly quick? I wasn't rushing and managed to pull all three of them in time. SD gave us plenty of time.

    ReplyDelete
  47. OK, I feel like an idiot. is there a secret to finding rooms a-r as well as most other rooms referenced above? All I've been able to find are 3 chests, the hole, opened the gate and the map. I keep wandering around and can't find routs to any more rooms.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Rudy what room in the upper right is there a lever???

    ReplyDelete
  49. Yeah I did it.
The trick is indeed to put the portal somewhere in a room up (the knight for example) and then go to room I to pull the lever and then use the book/portal to go to the knight and then quickly do the lever in room BD and BF.

Thanks for all the help guys.
Was rewally overwhelmed by all those rooms.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I need the sword to get past the knight? Where is it?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Evans,
Use the powerglovew in room H to get the golden key.
Use golden key in room T to get the sword.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Btw. thanks for the 'really great' game Selfdefiant. :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Ok, I give up. too complicated. Don't know what to do after pulling the "slow" moving lever in BE. Put portal there but haven't seen any other "slow" moving levers.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Enjoy,
Only 3 levers in I, BD and BF (oops myabe one of the B's is BE).

    ReplyDelete
  55. I don't have a BD yet... how to get there?

    ReplyDelete
  56. duh, finally found one turn i missed

    ReplyDelete
  57. Game already closed. But I thought when giving the sword to the knight you can go everywhere behind him. So maybe you didn't click some direction in one of the rooms behind him yet.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Tribble, I think the way to the I room was closed by the fire. Two buckets of water will take care of that.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Finally out. Wow that was an aMAZING game! thanks for all the help.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Lol, don't remember anymore Tribble, but I think not. I do remember room I was somewhere all the way bottom left and vaguely remember H was on the right.

    ReplyDelete
  61. This is getting annoyingly large.
I like the portal concept but I think could have been better thought out. You don't always know where you'll need the portal. You might place it, then find you need it somewhere else. I happened to get lucky with the well and the fire -- just had a feeling I'd need a 2nd bucket -- but it would be better if you had the choice to go to the portal you made OR kill the portal you made so you can make a new one.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Andrea,
In fact you only need the portal to be quick enough in the end. For all the other places you can just walk around because not timed. It's only an extra advantage you can use it for other things too.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Phew, out, and none too soon.

    ReplyDelete
  64. ST, yeah, I see that now that it's needed only for the timing. I was seeing the portal as akin to the teleportation crystal ball in the Asylum games, a convenience item for traversing a large map, and was getting annoyed at it for that reason.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Lol, yep I was praying for a crystal ball teleport thingy in this one as well. Although I liked this game I think Selfdefiant went a bit overboard with this one :)
But then again, it will be pretty difficult for sure to come up with new ideas everytime. So Kudos to SD :)

    ReplyDelete
  66. Loving this! especially since s-t and trisana left clues almost like a WT! The map is essential!

    ReplyDelete
  67. I liked this game for a while... thanks all for good hints. But, I was never able to find room AD for the 3rd lever and after going through the "maze" over and over I gave up. Sorry SD, this is one I couldn't finish. too frustrating.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Gosh can't seem to get the 5 levers in Y! I am using the posts from AF. What am I missing?

    ReplyDelete
  69. Jo-Ann,
You're using the correct hint. I think the fourth was all the way down and the first and last were the same height. Just keep trying.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Gotta love POP! I thought I had tried that before but apparently no!

For those stuck I think it was 4,3,5,1,4

    ReplyDelete
  71. Can't break into left side of map to get to other rooms. Big hint please?

    ReplyDelete
  72. Could really do with one of those crystal balls to move around the map with!

    ReplyDelete
  73. @luke, not sure where you are, do you have the map?

    ReplyDelete
  74. OK...I am worn out! I have a page full of (udlrllruudud) for my directions here to there! I think I will consider myself out because I can't be bothered to run back and forth to get to gate before the lever goes back up...too much like a timed game to me.....that is just me, many others may like the challenge....lol
Thanks for the excellent hints...and thanks, as always for the game @selfdefiant!

    ReplyDelete
  75. My AB room has no well...and I have yet to find rooms A thru M.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Ha ha ha ...@enjoy!!!! Great minds and all that! :D

    ReplyDelete
  77. thanks self defiant! good game. a bit tedious at times, but fun as always. i crave self defiant games!

    ReplyDelete
  78. myrdlebp, you need to go to AW for the well, but it is mis numbered as AB. It is the room just right of AV.

    ReplyDelete
  79. @myrdlebp, there is a second AB room to the right of AV. That is where the well is

    ReplyDelete
  80. Hmmmm, I have no AV yet. Imma big time lost! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  81. we all were. look at your map. the rooms are in order from bottom left to top right. i think they go from a thru bt or something like that. just keep plugging around and you will find them all.

    ReplyDelete
  82. @Nokra, did you not find the map? Made my adventure much easier.

Also, at the end, if you use the portal, it was really quick to go between the three levers. I left a portal at the top right lever, went down to the bottom left lever, pulled it, then clicked the book. Pulled the lever in the top right area. Then took the portal back. Went up and over to the exit gate, left a portal, then left and down to the final lever. Pulled it, then clicked the book and out!

    ReplyDelete
  83. LOL I have yet to find rooms A thru M. It's not for the lack of looking, been back and forth a bunch and I keep referring to my map, but JEEZUZ! I'm completely kerfumped!

    ReplyDelete
  84. Progress! I finally got to the hole and put the rope on the post! Whew, what a workout!

    ReplyDelete
  85. we're still here for you myrdlebp!

    ReplyDelete
  86. I'm still checking in too! Shhh I am supposed to be working... don't tell anyone! :)

    ReplyDelete
  87. LOL I miss the times when I could "play" at work!
I don't get how this portal thingie works????? I'll go read ^up^ lol
This is definitely an all dayer for me, I'm not getting ANYTHING done! :( Good thing I have one more day off from work!!

    ReplyDelete
  88. The portal was confusing for me at first too. When you click the red book, you get a portal. Then go a few locations away from where you left the portal and click the red book. Tada! you are back where you left the portal.

    Does that make sense?

    ReplyDelete
  89. I can only find brick walls, a bush, another bush and lovely flowers...

    ReplyDelete
  90. Late to the party. Where is the map? I feel like I've been everywhere.

    ReplyDelete
  91. map is forward from the start screen.

    ReplyDelete
  92. That may be the hardest SD ever! Wow, makes you work.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Where are all the levers? Found one in BD, another in BE, but although I'm using the portal the gate won't open... I bet there has to be a third one.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Well....I'm sorry, but I am one who became frustrated and had to quit before finishing. I can't find room I. Can't see room D with a fire. Can't figure out how to get to room BD, BE or BF and nowhere does it say how to get to these rooms above anywhere. I've been to every room on the map trying to see where I missed a left, right, up or down and there is nothing that I can see that I missed. I like this game a lot and appreciate SD making it a long, challenging one, but I guess I'm just not good enough to figure it out - lol!

    ReplyDelete
  95. @Gina, there is a third lever in the top left area. You go past the exit gate to find it.

@Zoe, the map only shows you the rooms you have been in. When you are in a room, you need to look and see if there are arrows to new areas. For example, if your map shows only a room above, but the actual room shows arrows going in all 4 directions, then you have missed rooms. Once you have been in the room, then it will show on the map.

@SD I loved the idea of the map appearing only after you had been in the room. I actually didn't find the map for a very long time and was relying on arrows and memory. Was I relieved when I found the map! Keep the new ideas coming!

    ReplyDelete
  96. I really enjoyed this one--lots to do and keep track of, but no hidden spots (always where I go wrong). Walkthrough coming!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Walkthrough (kinda):
SNEW are compass directions for where to go:

Go N (forward) for map (squares fill in as you go. I found it really useful to make my own map too, so I could see where there were paths I hadn't tried yet).
From map room, SWN gets you to the switch to open gate 1 (room AP)
From room AP, SEEEN gets you to gate 1 (room AS)
From AS, go NESESW to get to the EROS clue (room AM)
From AM, go ENWNNWWSWNW to get to the room where you use the EROS clue (room BG) Anagram EROS and enter it as the first 4 letters to get the BLACK KEY (spoiler in posts above)
Find your way back to the start room (AJ)
From room AJ, go NE to room AR, and use the black key to open the chest and get the FLASHLIGHT
From AR, go WSSEE to get to the room that was too dark to enter before you had the flashlight (AD)
From AD, go SS and get a SILVER KEY from the bird bath in room N
From N go NEN to room AE and get the bucket.
Find your way back to room AB, and from AB go WSW. Open the chest with the silver key to get the rope.
Find your way to room BK (north east corner of the map so far) and go E to BL which has a hole and a post. Use the rope to go down the hole to room BB
From BB go ESE to room AB, which has a well. Fill your bucket with water.
From the well, go WSSW to see the post clue (room AF)
From the post clue go EESW to get to the pedestal where you can enter the post clue, and get the MAGIC BOOK
Go ENW to room AG and use the magic book to make a portal (you’ll be glad you did soon).
Go E to the post clue room, and then go SSWSWW to get to a room with a fire (D). Use your water on the fire. Use your magic book to go back to room AG. NNE takes you back to the well. Get more water. Go back to the fire room, and finish putting out the fire.
From the fire room (D), go west as far as you can (NWWSWNW), and you’ll get to a room (I) where there’s a lever that is too strong to pull right now.
Go E to room J and note what direction each color is pointing.
From J go SEE to room C to a chest you can open with the color clue from room J. That gives you a POWER GLOVE. If you go back to room I and try it out, you’ll find you can now pull the switch, but it moves slowly back up. Also note the S symbol to the left of the switch.
Go to room P (bottom right of map so far). Go ESE to a room with a rock (room H). Move the rock with the power glove and get the GOLD KEY.
Go to room AC (just west of the dark room). Go SW to room T and open the chest with the gold key to get the SWORD
Go to room BC, and then N to room BM and give sword to the knight.
If you haven’t already done so, use the magic book to get back to where you left your portal, and click the portal to remove it.
Go to room BM (with the knight). From BM, investigate the rooms to the north. You’ll find two more S levers, one to the west and one to the east. You’ll also find the S gate, which is the exit.
Go to one of the north two rooms with levers, I chose the one to the NW, which is room BE. Use the magic book to make a portal there.
Walk back to the SW corner S-lever (room I).
Use the power glove to pull the lever in room I.
Use the magic book to go to the next lever. Use the power glove to pull it.
Walk to the last lever. (if you put the portal in room BE, you get to the other lever room by going EN, then E as far as you can, and S twice)
Pull the last lever with the power glove.
Walk back to the gate and exit!

  98. the moon is beautiful :-)

    ReplyDelete
  99. Ok, so me being me, I COULD NOT give up - lol! So I perservered and did find the missing room. The portal took me a little time to figure out, but in the end, it does make getting to the 3 levers easier than having to go all the way through the rooms in time.

SD - this was truly a great game! You have people complaining that your games are "too short" and "too easy" etc. And look what you came up with!!!!!

Thanks for taking the effort, and I'm sure lots of time, to make this one!

    ReplyDelete
  100. I couldn't find well, love your games selfdefiant , thank you but this is driving me crazy...lol I will be waiting for the next one.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Wow! Loved it. Thanks SD for an interesting morning. My tip to help navigate is to plan a route and write it down i.e UURRDLRU then move. It makes it a lot quicker. And Jo-ann gave a good hint for the final lever pulling leaving the portal in the top right then move down to the bottom lever which you will pull first and use the book to whizz up to the top.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Excellent games SD, three switches to pull with the power glove, tricky. I loved the portal book, clever and fun especially in a game as big as this one.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I don't find room BD. Where is it, please ? There is nothing on the right of room BC and nothing on the left of room BE.

  106. @seb,

    Thank you !

    ReplyDelete
  107. Anyway, I give up : I'm not fast enough to pull the 3 levers and the travel portal is still a mystery for me.

    ReplyDelete
  108. This navigation is a bad dream,i hate that !

    ReplyDelete
  109. Oh my God!!! That was epic! Thanks for explaining early on that only a 4 letter word needed for 8 spaced clue. That was mean SD!

    ReplyDelete
  110. haha didn't even realise there was a portal until i had finished... managed to get the levers down in the first try as well :)

    ReplyDelete
  111. LOVED IT! Thanks SD!
This was MASSIVE. It must've taken quite a bit of time to put it together. Thank you, SD, for working so hard just for our entertainment.

(I had a bit of trouble figuring out the portal until I read Lsquared's WT, so, thanks for that, Lsquared.)

    ReplyDelete
  112. Need one of them magic ball things that take you to the room when you click on the map lol (like in the asylums)

    ReplyDelete
  113. I got bored after finding the knight who wanted a sword. This was a very sadistic game, in my opinion, the very thing I dislike about SD. I thought he was listening and trying not to make us go from one edge of map to another and back every little while... but it seems not! I guess without all this back and forth running his games would be nothing. Sorry for being harsh, but you can do a lot better than that.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Finally finished! thank you seb for posting a picture of the map. I finally found my missing room BD! thank you Lsquared for the WT!

    ReplyDelete
  115. Fab game - once I read Small-Tool's hint that the 7 letter puzzle actually only uses the first 4 (naughty SD!), I did it all myself - took just under 45 minutes, but I got there.
@ Tania - what a shame you didn't enjoy it. There was a huge clue in the name - it is called escape the Maze - isn't the point of them that you get lost and keep having to back-track? I loved it - some people like war games, some like escape games, some like puzzles, some like easy, some like a challenge... Play the ones you like and have fun ;-)
@ SD - thank you for another entertaining free game with a generous amount of bafflement - perfect :-)

    ReplyDelete
  116. Walking around town with my lover? Who says that? What are we French now? Let's just keep it casual man, and don't let it turn into that! lol
