H + 5 letters = M
D + 5 letters = I
U + 5 letters = Z
I'm completely stuck on 2nd puzzle though...

1column: 4+2+3=9 9-3=6
2column: 5+5+1=11 11-3=8
3column: 2+2+6=10 10-3=7
the thing is -3....
