ReplyDeleteOk, this is gonna be long, but bear with me. I found this game to be pretty challenging, even on easy. Maybe I'm the only one, maybe not. Here's a walk through of exactly what should be done to beat the easy level with 100 health. No cheats involved, just strategically placed towers.
ReplyDeleteI am referring to the layout as a 23 x 13 box. I use coordinates with the first one being the horizontal starting from the left and going right. The second coordinate is the vertical position starting from the top and going down. It's just like reading a book. The first thing to do is to set up two basic machine gun towers. You want to set these up so that you can cover the most amount of area with these two. I've found it to be sufficient to place these at (7,7) for Machine Gun 1 [MG1] and (10,7) for Machine Gun 2 [MG2]. This allows you to take out the first wave no problem. Go ahead and select MG2 and hover over the upgrade button. This is pretty much the only time that timing is crucial. As soon as you hit $50, hit the upgrade. Otherwise, you'll let one of them slip through. Granted, it will only do 1 or 2 damage to the server, but this is for 100% Health. :-P Then, upgrade MG1 as soon as possible because this is time-dependent as well. You should alternate upgrading one more time until both machine guns are level 3s. There's no point in upgrading further since you're about to change your focus to more destructive weapons.
Once you have both MG1 and MG2 at level 3, save your money until you reach $200 and can purchase a flamethrower tower. Place Flamethrower Tower 1 [FT1] at (3,8). When you reach $200 again, place Flamethrower Tower 2 [FT2] at (9,3). Save again, then place FT3 at (3,2). Go counter-clockwise from there, upgrading when you get enough money to do so.
When you have maxed out the three FTs, sell the MGs and purchase Ice Cannon 1 [IC1] and place it at (5,6). Upgrade IC1 as much as possible, then place IC2 at (6,5), IC3 at (5,5), IC4 at (6,6), etc. The idea is to fill the 4 x 4 area inside the first loop with fully upgraded Ice Cannons. The theory is to have enough Ice Cannons to be able to manipulate the viruses' movement, i.e. Stop them from moving. You should upgrade the IC that you just placed before placing another basic IC. It gets very confusing and can be time consuming trying to find out which ICs you've upgraded and which ones you haven't, especially when you get to wave 42.
Once you have the 16 ICs fully upgraded, start saving to purchase Void Tower 1 [VT1] and place at (2,5). Then purchase VT2 and place at (5,2). Then purchase VT3 and place at (5,9). This allows the usage of 3 AOE (Area Of Effect) Towers to be used in conjunction with the ICs and also have all 3 in range of the viruses 90% of the time while inside the first loop. Again, go clockwise and upgrade as soon as you can. Upgrade until all 3 Void Towers are level 4. Once you have done this, you're pretty much done. The only other thing I would recommend is placing a Light Tower at (10,7). They have plenty of range, but since it is not an AOE Tower and pretty expensive to upgrade, it is pretty useless until you get to wave 51 with the Black Octagon which has unbelievable hit points. Other than that, this method is pretty effective on the other maps as well. Tweak it, and you're probable to find a successful method of beating the level. I've successfully beaten Hard and Really Hard with this tactic. Good luck and have fun!

Level 1: 1 level 2 machinegun
level 2: 1 level 1 machinegun with 1level 2 machine gun
level 3-10 : get both machine guns to 3, then buy flame thrower upgrade to level 3 then make both mg's to level 4
10-20: build a crap load of level 4 ice's. you should have about 12-14 of them... Mass them.
20-whenever: build 2 maxed plasma towers, the upgrade all ice towers to 5, then, build 1 maxed void towers, build 4-6 more level 5 ice towers, then build like 3 maxed fires, then build one more maxed void.
in the end you should have. 2 level 4 machine guns, (you can upgrade them or sell them), 14-20 level 5 ice towers(16 is probably the best amount), 2 maxed plasma towers, 2 void towers. tA DAH!!! UBEREASY
ye henrys works the best just tried it and added a few more voids and also used the lighing towers upgraded completely and it worked like a charm!

For a bit of amusement, try starting with a couple of MG's, then add a couple of flamethrowers, then alternately add ice cannon and flamethrowers - all max'd out.
ReplyDeleteWith this you can win (on Easy) with 100 health - but it took 14 MINUTES to cook the final octagon to death!

i didn't even bother with jeremy's way. way to complex. i tried henry's instead. though it worked, it needed some modifications. i lost some life when the group of white circles came, and 2 of them attacked my firewall. i ended up needing to place an extra fire and mg near my firewall, andthen they still got through. nothing ended up getting through afterwards though. i followed what the blog said, and it seemed to wor perfectly. i got to the white octagon, and it was frozen completely, but before i could kill it, the game quit, and i didn't get to see what happened. so i tried it again, and the game was going exactly the same, even with the white cirlces. but when the white octagon came, it wasn't freezing, and it kept getting closer and closer to the firewall. so i made like 70 more ices all across the thing with the like 21 thousand dollars i had, but it wasn't freezing, and it made it to the firewall and got through. i ended up ending the game with only 42 life, and a thousand ices. i ended up winning, but the white octagon died. i also didn't earn enough money for all the upgrades, and all the pricey towers. henry's way worked pretty well, but it still needs some work. good job henry.
ReplyDeleteDidnt bother with jeremy's way i tried henry's. it worked but needed slight changes. I used 2 maxed fires, 1 maxed machine gun, 4 maxed plasma, 3 lvl 4 light and 1 maxed light.

Omg i found out how to beat the game so esy!!!!! all u do is put one lvl 1 mg at cordinate 3,2 and wait till u get 200 and buy lvl 1 ice cannon then all u do is wait and when u have enough to buy 20000 light cannons, BUY THEM!!!!!! It so cool!!! Oh, and at wave 5, sell the mg and ic.

Then put 4 light towers at these coordinates(4,4) (4,7) (7,7) (7,4) leave them at lvl 1 then build ice towers between them hers a grid of it

then in that 4x4 area left put lightning towers in then max out the ice towers and then upgrade the lightning towers to lvl 4 and then upgrade the light towers to lvl 2
then at these coordinates put 4 void towers (2,2) (2,9) (9,2) (9,9) and then max the lightning towers then upgrade the voids to lvl 2 then upgrade the light towers to lvl 3 then void lvl 3 and then start maxing the void and light towers.
this got me at 25 health i did it a little different though then i did it again and got 75 health good luck

Next put flame thrower(ft) at 2,8 then a ft at 3,8 one at 9,8 and another at 3,2. keep upgradin till all are lvl 5. Next buy ice cannons(ics), and lots of em.(youll need 16) and put them inside the 4 x 4 square at the begining, fill it all up!! Upgrade all to lvl 5 asap. buy 3 void towers(Vt) place one at 2,5 one at 2,6 and one at 3,9-when possible upgrade all to lvl 5(or 4 depends on when you win). Finnaly, bu 2 light towers(lt) place one lt at 8,2 and one at 8,9. at same time as voids, upgrade both to lvl 4 or 5. and there u go, uber easy!!!! Good luck!!

ReplyDeletejeremy's way is so good!!! It worked really well, and if u cant follow it..... just do all ice towers in that square fully upgraded, 3 flamethrowers full upgraded, and 3 void towers full upgraded all close together. thats pretty much what hes saying, tho the coordinates do help!

Regarding Y3k Defender - Level Easy is well "easy", Level Hard was not that hard but Level Really Hard was a "Kerfuffin" Nightmare. The Really Hard Level can be won by accurate placement of the first 6 units. Using the 23 x 13 Grid Refs have a go at this: On 9/6 put a machine gun and then up grade, you are now skint. Start the virus run. Watch as you get up to $50 then place a small machine gun on 14/8. DO NOT start the next level manually - this can cause you a Firkin Majour problem. Up grade the machine gun on 14/8.As soon as you can AGAIN upgrade the MG on 14/8. Then upgrade the MG on 9/6. You should now be on level or wave 7. Buy a MG and place on 13/8 and upgrade as soon as poss. Buy a mg and put on 8/6. Make sure they are all upgraded to 2 barrels and then save up for a flame thrower and put in on 15/7. You will loose some lives. Next flame thrower on 11/2.Upgrade FT up to 800 and then buy an ICE unit - place on 10/7. From then on alternate between buying ICE and then FT's. Dont forget the ICE units allow your flame thorwers to burn for longer. When you get rich have a play with the BFG, well it was called that in DOOM2 and if you didnt play DOOM2 you wont have a Firkin clue what im on about - let me know how you got on. Seg
