  1. Stuck again on 10. I think I have all the letters, but what do I do with them? Is it an anagram?

  2. Chapter 10
These things get easier when you take them very literally.
"This" is not the last letter of each of the Consult Holmes Clues
"This" is not the last letter of each of the Chapter Titles
But it is along that same line of thinking.
It is 9 letters long and you get to use the Anagram solver again!

The good news: Youtube video halfway point reward when you solve Chapter 10.
The bad news: Blocked on copyright grounds

Hopefully nothing in the video itself is pertinent to the riddle.

  3. I tried using the last letter from each of the clues. Am I on the right track?

  4. This is me not getting anything done today.
Chapter 11 is actually rather nifty.
You'll need that special source code page.
This is a PRIME example of another simple cipher.

  5. I'm leaving off for now.
This is what I've got so far.
    Chapter 12
Someone in the forum let slip that Chapter 13 has something to do with Lestrade.
This did yield some results, but I ended up in a loop. So much for dumb luck.
Looking at the page from the left, from the right, upside down, and in a mirror revealed nothing to me.
I tried the Pig Pen, but that seems to yield too much nonsense.
I'm hoping I don't have to break out an exacto knife and go arts and craftsy on this chapter.

    Press on!

  6. I'm still stuck on 10! I know it must be simpler than I am making it. Could someone just tell me if I have the right letters. tensecaes
If they are wrong could you tell me where to find the right ones.

  7. Trudy Mumpet, you're getting your letters from the clues? Try looking more towards the end of the pages.

  8. Chapter 12
I was able to keep running with the Lestrade hint from earlier. For awhile I thought it was a joke being poked at Lestrade and leading me on a wild goose chase. In desperation, I took a few peeks at the source coding and was able to dig up something that works.
I have no idea how it relates to the picture or Holmes' consulting clue, so if you can explain that one to me, props.

  9. Chapter 13
An unpleasant reminder that this is a URL replacement game, so reflect back on what happened with the train and finding the timetables.
After that, you're just spelling things. I found a photo editor to be especially helpful. Maybe even a printer and a pen.

  10. Can someone please help me with level 9? I've been stuck for 3 hours...

  11. Doctor Holmes, check out what Ali Zawad said on 12/22/12 on the previous forum page and then my comment (Actual Size) on 2/19/14.

  12. Still confused on Chapter 12's riddle and Consult Holmes clue correlation. Will continue to investigate.

Similar problem with Chapter 14, I managed to guess it on pure dumb luck. Tried to backtrack, but all I can tell you right now is that the answer you are looking for is in the picture on the page. Still no idea how it correlates to the Consult Holme's clue. I have a suspicion that some of the clues may be linked up with the wrong riddles.

Chapter 15: This one is fairly straightforward even, dare I say, easy to solve. Remember Sesame Street? ♪♫ One of these things is not like the other, one of these things just doesn't belong. Can you tell which thing is not like the others, before I finish this song ♫♪

Still on Chapter 16 because, apparently, I don't know how to play childhood board games.

So send any clarification on Chapters 12, 14, and 16 my way!

    Press on!

  13. Actual Size, thank you very much for your help, however I am now confused on how to actually cipher it. Please help, I've been on several keyed caesar cipher websites and am getting more and more confused.

  14. Fun story time: I deeply misinterpreted the Consulting Holmes Clue for Chapter 17 and I have spent the better part of my evening throwing every single variation my vocabulary can muster at that URL bar to try and answer what was eventually revealed to be a question at the end of 20. Cruel joke? I'm thinking so.

    Moving right along.

Chapter 17: It's not a math problem, its an order problem.
Chapter 18: There is a typo in the Consulting Holmes Clue, but it won't affect your riddle solving.
Chapter 19: Remember Chapter 7? The riddle's author has a sense of humor. Good thing too because by this point of the game, I'm on a frustrated rampage. After you figure that, reflect back on Chapter 15. Something will be a little bit off. If you've gotten this far, you'll know what to do next.
Chapter 20: Why is there another question at the bottom of this page?? This is supposed to be the end! I should be filled with at least some sense of satisfaction and pride. Maybe some sort of certificate I can print my name on and frame in my room and show off to my friends (ie. cats).

  15. Personal Reflections

In the end, I'm bitter sweet about it. I particularly enjoyed solving puzzles like Chapter 13. Chapters 3 & 5 were killer; I'm so glad so that so many of you were able to pave the way and figure those ones out.
However, I wasn't thrilled with the story line. Admit it, Chapters 6, 13, 16, and 17 only exist to draw this adventure out into 20 chapters. And then the last few felt slap dash and crammed together. But the most frustrating thing is that I'm still pawing at Chapters 12, 14, 16 and 20. I'm agonizing over why some of those answers are considered even slightly relevant (looking at you, Chapter 16). I don't like feeling that I left the puzzles unsolved and overlooked clues. But will I do another? Undeniably, yes.

  16. not getting any idea on ch 8... what was the lock combination??

    ReplyDelete
  17. @Pratik, look at the Medusa's faces, they tell you to pick every other letter, starting with A, from that string of letters you see. So pick the first one, the next one no, the third one yes, etc. Finally anagram as Holmes tells you.

  21. Can someone please help me? I've been stuck on Chapter 9 for over a year! The only clues I have are Seamaiden, the source LZASOBUFOKLDT, and Z. I've tried using the Keyed Caesar Cipher, but it's not working!

  22. Try mermaid instead of seamaiden

  24. I'm sure nobody's here anymore, but if someone does roll in, I'm stuck on Chapter 11 for days. Someone said to go the Prime Number chart on purple hell, but not sure what to do from there. Any help would be appreciated (and unexpected!)

  25. Need some help on 18 - I have the thing from before, but not sure what to do with it, even after checking with Holmes.
