Em's Mishmash

Em's Mishmash is another free online riddle game made by Epresto. "This is my very first riddle game, so it will probably be much too difficult easy difficult easy, but anyway, I hope you get really stuck on some levels some entertainment out of it. To keep it simple, there is no need to look in Exif or source. Pictures or picture names can provide clues, or not." No capital letters or spaces in the answer box. Good luck and have fun!

  1. You're welcome E-Addict, I'm off for the night, good luck :)

    ReplyDelete
  2. Congratulations, E Presto. I'm very happy you did it. And I mean it sincerely. I'm a little late but I'll play it of course. I've been waiting for this. :) Everyone, please, stay around to give me a hand.

  3. Stuck on 8, Cannot dance anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I think i know how to dance backword and forwards, but the letters are not making any good word :(

    ReplyDelete
  5. Hello again .. early for some work and some levels actually :-) .. 10 now .. @Faltu dance with answers !

and btw Em the dancing lesson was just mean enough ! ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  6. " OH TSK!!!! I keyed in all 4 words - DOH!!! TY " .. @ Cee Bee ..what decoder one is supposed to use to decipher this hint ? lol i give up for now .. had to get back to bed as quick as possible ..

    ReplyDelete
  7. I'm still stuck on level 4.
Is it an anagram of TNIRO?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Peggy, 2 of your letters are right, you must pick the ones that come just after ME

    ReplyDelete
  9. E Addict, have you felt 10 yet?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Despite what Leo Sayer sang...it appears that NO, i cant dance. Ive tried facing the way im dancing, simply dancing per instructions, and another method which was so brilliant that i cant even remember what i did. I have blisters. May i have a mega-hint please?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Hi Clio :) in this dance you need to remember how you got where you are!

    ReplyDelete
  12. alcohol and cheating from the brainiacs mostly. Is it related to the last answer?

    ReplyDelete
  13. hahaha! This is all about retracing your steps, so you'll probably need more than the last answer ;)

    ReplyDelete
  14. I hate me, and you're not too popular either...LOL. Note to other players, do NOT write your shopping list on the other side of the paper on which you have kept your notes/answers and after shopping chuck the paper away. *sigh*

    ReplyDelete
  15. LOL Clio, I'd say that's good advice you're giving there!!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. and ...I have danced into the next level. Thanks EPresto, for a VERY good hint.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Stuck (yet again oh-um) on the 2nd part of 10. Tried counting etc. but nothing is making sense so far. Hint please.

    ReplyDelete
  18. If you got the egg on 10, now you know the value of the buttons!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yes, so I've tried:
    Straight convert
    Count/multiply/convert
Count/multiply/add/convert - that got me a word that didn't work
    Still stuck (:

    ReplyDelete
  20. Count and convert should get you there

    ReplyDelete
  21. oh wait, I just read your post again, add and convert might work better

    ReplyDelete
  22. I think I'm more confused than ever - LOL!!

I've counted, added, converted ad nauseum - not sure what to count add or convert anymore - LOL!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. LOL Cee Bee, sorry I'm being very unclear! You know how you decode first time? Each compartment of the drawer was a letter? Well that still applies. So it's about adding every compartment then converting

    ReplyDelete
  24. You're not being unclear EPresto, it's me missing the obvious - as I always do!! I tried it every way, but by compartment - arghhh! LOL!!

I sometimes wonder why I do these - I'm hopeless at them, I overthink all the time and must drive you developers crazy with my stupid questions :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. HAHA Cee Bee, I hope you play them because you enjoy them! And you're not driving anyone mad! The game was made to be finished, however many questions need to be asked!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thank you for your patience.

I do enjoy them, although there must be a masochistic streak in me as I end up driving myself mad and have a sore head by hitting it on any object I can find every time a light bulb goes on!

    ReplyDelete
  27. LOL, you're nearly there!

    ReplyDelete
  28. good morning all, have managed to get up to 11 and stuck again, any hints E-Presto? enjoying this puzzle very much E, congratulations .

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm happy you're enjoying it rds! You need a code here. What did it say about chickens?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hello again .. well Em you don't have to thank me for playing it , for i'm not being social playing it lol i'm not enjoying it i wouldn't have kept trying .. so Thank you ..

and Not Really a Braille ?!! lol well you just stumped me here i cant even say i'm a beginner .. and i mean i just checked braille on another level !! was looking for color codes :-) but well i managed to solve the second part all by myself .. so this would make you proud of me right ? lol i'm still a beginner after all ! ;-)

now for 11 .. image searching led me to ' our top hen ' and a writer .. am i on the right track here ?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Well done E-Addict! you are doing very well! for 11 look at my post 8:51

    ReplyDelete
  32. Aaaaarrrrggghhh! My first thoughts as i awoke this morning were about this game! And I STILL didn't figure it out!!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. am i looking for 7 letters and is it anagrammed Em on 11?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Peggy! in the little sentence under picture : look at the letters that come directly after the letters M&E

    ReplyDelete
  35. The only 'me' I see is at the end of time, therefore, as per your instructions, the five letters would be thoug. That doesn't work, ought, tough, ghout.... all don't work.

Previously you said to follow "EM", so backwards would be itata. That doesn't work, neither do variations.

Is there another ME I'm not seeing?

    ReplyDelete
  36. I have to go, back in a couple of hours :) good luck

    ReplyDelete
  37. Peggy M and E lol not ME !

    ReplyDelete
  38. had to go as well .. please leave some hints for 11 .. and for 12 for sure .. some hints and not some riddle hints !

and Em .. i was tired as well lol when looking at the Really Braille .. i mean it was 4 AM maybe .. :

    ReplyDelete
  39. I definitely am better at escape games than riddle games, as you well know, EAddict and EPresto.

Ok, the only 'm's I see on the ENTIRE page are in the title and in the word 'time'. EPresto said 5 letters. Excluding the 'e' in 'time', there is an 'e' at the end of 'one' which is 5 letters away. That would make the letters 'atati' which I've already tried and anagrammed.

I'm hopeless at these, I know.
Maybe if you whisper the answer to me, no one else will hear.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Peegy ( whispering ) : the one time order .. now follow !

    ReplyDelete
  41. I take a break and see all the players have changed when I come back. I think I know what code to use on 11, but haven't had any luck yet with what I've tried to convert, so looking for help.

@Peggy: there are 4 E's and one M in the sentence - look at what follows them

    ReplyDelete
  42. on 11 am i looking for seven letters from samuel? or have i been on the wrong track for the last hours? haha

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm using the same code rds, so if you're on the wrong track so I am LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  44. i don't understand .. is image googling needed or is it all on the page itself ?

    ReplyDelete
  45. @E-Addict: What don't you understand?......... Do you know what code to use?

    ReplyDelete
  46. i didn't ask for a question Cee Bee ! :-) i don't understand where to start actually and what exactly i'm looking for ..

    ReplyDelete
  47. if we are on the right track then it has nothing to do with the image except her description of it.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Sorry! Just trying to clarify what you need. I haven't completed 11, so don't know what we're looking for yet. I think I know the code to use - got that by the hints in the text.

    ReplyDelete
  49. lol Got It ! decipher the text itself !

    ReplyDelete
  50. You're on the right track for 11. Use it on the poem

    ReplyDelete
  51. Cee Bee .. just imagine the text is not actually a text .. lol .. does this make any sense to you ?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Thanks for the riddle Em :) I had fun with it.
Lol and thank for making fun of me. Will get you back in my new riddle :P

    ReplyDelete
  53. i have been trying that, but I must be off some how, not coming up with anywords . only 7 letters correct?

    ReplyDelete
  54. i'm awful at giving hints i know it .. just use the code mentioned on the text itself .. only one line is a little bit tricky !

    ReplyDelete
  55. the text is the code to be decoded .. each line represents a letter !

    ReplyDelete
  56. Hi! I came back, and I have not needed help until I reached level 10. Its not braille... Now I need help. I look at the colors I have counted, separated ... and nothing

    ReplyDelete
  57. Yep, only 7 letters and it's no anagram.
Think syllables to see the difference between d and d

    ReplyDelete
  58. hey Pichi .. it is braille .. ( 3 words needed ) !

    ReplyDelete
  59. ty , was looking at length instead of syllables ... got it

    ReplyDelete
  60. PHEW!! I've been trying to do that for ages too!!! Even with all your hints, I can't see one letter, let alone 7 (:

    ReplyDelete
  61. I do not understand, I've got 4 words that say it is not ...

    ReplyDelete
  62. last 3 Pichi ..

and Cee bee I thought you are a riddler ! :-) .. if the text is the code itself what the in could be for instance ? awful again ? lol

    ReplyDelete
  63. @E-Addict: HAHAHA!! I wish I was a riddler, then I wouldn't get stuck so often - LOL!!

    ReplyDelete
  64. there's nothing more i can do but to whisper it to you as well lol .. ok first line if ' in 'is a dot ' about ' would be ? lol that's all i can think of ..

    ReplyDelete
  65. write each line of the poem as "samuel" did, go by syllables cee bee, you will end up with 7

    ReplyDelete
  66. had to go for a while .. leave some hints for 12 Cee Bee ! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  67. did that help cee bee? or do you need a little more?

    ReplyDelete
  68. Well guys, I'm still not getting this and I'm getting frustrated!!!

I've read & read all the hints yet still don't know to translate the poem properly. I don't see why ' in 'is a dot ', so 'about' could be either d or d. If I've understood all you've told me, I guess the first letter is either A or I - but I can't see why (:

    ReplyDelete
  69. CeeBee, did you see small-tool's hint at 10:39 AM? that's what finally helped me.

    ReplyDelete
  70. @rbud57: Yes I did - I've read all the clues over & over - nothing is helping this dense head of mine right now (:

    Thanks for trying to help.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Cee Bee, the chickens are DOTty and DASHing, do you know what code is needed? 1 syllable=d** 2 syllables=d***

    ReplyDelete
  72. you have the first one cee bee, now do the next one

    ReplyDelete
  73. TY Em!!!!! Sorry you had to spell it out for me. I knew the code, but didn't know how to apply even with all the previous hints.

    ReplyDelete
  74. YAY! Cee Bee, and don't be sorry!

    ReplyDelete
  75. yay cee bee, any clues on 12?

    ReplyDelete
  76. On 12 the most important clue is in the title.

    ReplyDelete
  77. In lvl 11 I've read the hints. and I wonder: if more than two syllables, then it would be?

    ReplyDelete
  78. The same as 2 syllables Pichi, but there shouldn't be more than 2

    ReplyDelete
  79. Thanks small-tool, got it, thank you again Epresto for the game, it was good.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Oh My! Oh My! After all my problems on 11, I did 12 all by myself :)

Thank you so much for putting this together Em - As you are well aware I got stumped many times, but I had fun!!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Thank you for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I hope there will be another one!

    ReplyDelete
  82. Congrats too rds & tanks for the help along the way to all who gave it.

    ReplyDelete
  83. ...and also DONE! Lovely riddle! thanks so much for all the help along the way. I really enjoyed it, and needed one like this to help wake up my rusty riddling brain.

    ReplyDelete
  84. hap-pe-ned=3 this is more than two

    ReplyDelete
  85. rbud, thanks so much for all the compliments ;-), I'm happy you enjoyed it :)

    ReplyDelete
  86. I need help on 11 I do not understand what the syllables

    ReplyDelete
  87. Pichi : happened is 2 syllables : hap-pened do you know what code to use?

    ReplyDelete
  88. yes Pichi, and you know how to apply to the words?

    ReplyDelete
  89. I think that become a m***e and then translated

    ReplyDelete
  90. yes. so if 1 syllable then it's a d**, if it's more then it's a d****
    each line is a letter

    ReplyDelete
  91. Yes Epresto, I understand all that, but I do not get the right word

    ReplyDelete
  92. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Thanks Epresto I was wrong the fourth and last

    ReplyDelete
  94. You're nearly there Pichi! :)

    ReplyDelete
  95. I need 12 tracks, I know the title is important, but ... that I?

    ReplyDelete
  96. is something to shade the text? sorry I do not remember now 4

    ReplyDelete
  97. this is something with the colors, to choose a few letters or words?

    ReplyDelete
  98. Yeaaaaaahh!! Thanks Epresto! I'm done, but without your help and that of others, I would not have gotten. Congratulations again for the game, I hope the next, you're great!

    ReplyDelete
  99. I forgot, from Molly lena: congratulations and they will encourage you to do for other riddle!

    ReplyDelete
  100. Thank you Pichi and Molly, I'm so pleased you enjoyed it! And I hope I will make another one!

    ReplyDelete
  101. We hope! but remember that Molly and I do not know speak English, so we ask that no levels difficult to spell or similar.
(this is "almost" a joke) haha

    ReplyDelete
  102. hahaha Pichi, I will try to remember!

    ReplyDelete
  103. Stuck on level 10. I have that it is not Braille and see that it is but I can't get the egg. I am having a dumb day!

    ReplyDelete
  104. LinG, this isn't an easy level. Try reading what you've deciphered in a different way. If it says "Its not" it also says "Its"

    ReplyDelete
  105. For some reason I am not seeing it.

    ReplyDelete
  106. ok back to 12 .. it's supposed to be easy after the hint but .. it's not working !

    ReplyDelete
  107. finished at last !!!
Thank you very very much Em for that great game !!!!!
I truly! really! enjoyed it !!!
time for me to listen to the song !!!
I hope you ll make another one soon !!!

    ReplyDelete
  108. have you done it E-addict ?

    ReplyDelete
  109. LinG, you need 3 of the words you deciphered

E Addict, does your "never mind" imply you don't need help anymore?

    ReplyDelete
  110. Thanks EPresto. I'm on the egg now. I had tried every combo, of course, except the right one. Perhaps I need more coffee!

    ReplyDelete
  111. Thanks Em .. Absolute Fun .. all the way through .. and actually this is the most well balanced riddle for non riddlers i ever tried .. of course with all the help specially by Donas .. so again thanx Donas .. and again i liked the colors chosen and the background as well !

and no it has no nonsense at all in it .. nonsense is actually when you have a set of numbers that are supposed to be a cipher and you try to google all possible ciphers related to them for hours to then find out later that oh no you just had to pick out one number and continuously divide it by 9 .. why ? because you just saw nine stars somewhere around ! lol wth ..

anyway 1 or 2 Em riddles per month would be ok for me ! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  112. Well I'm really pleased you enjoyed it E Addict, and as I've already said, I hope I will make another one at some point :) Now it's my bedtime so goodnight everyone, or good morning or good afternoon!

    ReplyDelete
  113. help please anyone on level 3, I did what the earlier hints said and looked carefully even highlighted but still cant figure it out

    ReplyDelete
  114. ger, when you highlight, look at the final two words on the 2nd? or 3rd line. You will see the difference. That is what you need.

    ReplyDelete
  115. thank you clio will do

    ReplyDelete
  116. clio is it g** s**** or I s*** my blasted eyesight is not seeing anything, think I need new glasses

    ReplyDelete
  117. sorry ger. It is the last two words on the 1st line. Use CtrlA, and those two words will change into one word.

    ReplyDelete
  118. brilliant thank you clio, very clever lol

    ReplyDelete
  119. Even after reading the hints, I still have no idea what to do on lvl 12. May I have a mega-hint please?

    ReplyDelete
  120. Hey Clio! You need to look at the words which are where the title says they should be! haha totally unclear hint!

    ReplyDelete
  121. yayyyyy!!....you are correct..that is a totally unclear hint!..lol

All i notice is the final colour missing....as for anything else, ive looked at words before, after, under, over, in between.

Im feeling silly, because ive been on this level for hours. hahha. (popularity rating going down again, EPresto!!...HAHAHHAHA)

    ReplyDelete
  122. HAHAHA, maybe that's a good sign! Means it's not too easy! lol
over should have worked! never mind about the missing colour, just means the sentence isn't very long!

    ReplyDelete
  123. Finished. Thank you Em. The last level after solving, raised YOUR popularity and lowered mine...hahhaha. That was very enjoyable, and I hope you make more. Thank you once again.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Can someone please post a walkthrough for me.
    Still stuck on level 2!

    ReplyDelete
  125. Joe, I don't have time to write a walkthrough right now but for level 2 : the words: singular, pack, down, pride, litter have a bold first letter. If you google these words togther, you will find they are animal collective nouns. The text says you need a name for the kittens, so it means you need a collective noun for kittens.
    http://www.thealmightyguru.com/Pointless/AnimalGroups.html
I hope this helps. I will try to write a walkthrough when I get the time.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Thanx EP
I actually managed to figure it out
Knew all the words and theme but could not figure out the solution then Flash... it clicked
Am now stuck on level 5
    Nice job
cant believe its your first one!

    ReplyDelete
  127. Hi Joe M. With lvl 5, i had to feel my way because i could not see how to solve it. Luckily, there is a special alphabet for that.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Thanx Clio rose
    Got it now
    Keep stuck on each level
will work till I get it

    ReplyDelete
  129. Am now on level 7
    Finally found the cipher decoder
    Stuck on 7
    Working on it

    ReplyDelete
  130. Just stopping by to give a big thank you to Em for her riddle, I really enjoyed it, level 10 was a beauty lol.

I hope you go on to create some more in the same vein.

Oh, and thanks to all the posters who gave help, by God I needed it at times!!

    ReplyDelete
  131. @Joe, if you're still stuck on 7, try using MS Paint, it's a pain, but worthwhile when you get the answer :-D

    ReplyDelete
  132. I've been waiting for days for a walkthrough because I'm too embarrassed to admit I'm still stuck on level 5.

Everyone refers to the braille alphabet which I have gone over many times. But I still get
    -, o, m, z, backwards t, r, and y

What am I not seeing? (pun intended)

    ReplyDelete
  133. @Peggy, If I give the first letter and explain why it should help. As has been said by earlier posters, treat the numbers as co-ordinates.
The first letter is C, you get that by using a cartesian graph thingy.
So, to get C you go 1 along and 3 up, then 2 along and 3 up. If that was represented by a 2x3 grid, where would the dots go?
I hope that's not too much...

    ReplyDelete
  134. Rambler, thank you sooooooooo much.
I was using the graph the wrong way. I was starting from the top, not the bottom.

    ReplyDelete
  135. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Excellent :-D

Sometimes even the most brilliant minds are dulled!

    ReplyDelete
  137. I still haven't had time to post a walkthrough, I'm sorry. But I'm so pleased people are still playing! Do not hesitate to ask for help, and to give the biggest hints you think are necessary.

Thanks Rambler for helping and for posting, I'm really happy you enjoyed it, and I am very much encouraged to make another. So a big "you're welcome" to you!

Thank you Joe M and Peggy, for persevering even when you're stuck.

In fact I'd like to thank everyone who played, and everyone who posted, whether to share their thoughts or to help others, or ask for hints, it just brings the game to life, and I think it's most of the fun. The actual riddle shouldn't get so much credit!

    ReplyDelete
  138. @Em, don't be so modest, the Riddle was great, that's why you got such a reaction, more power to you.

    ReplyDelete
  139. actually i agree with Rambler .. i liked everything in it .. the story as well :-) .. and by the way i was thinking of making one but now forget it .. you just raised the bar !

    ReplyDelete
  140. EP
I will persevere through to the end
The nice thing about a WT is that it will help those of us in the future who can then backtrack so we dont suffer @ the next one.
By the way thanx for all your help on E Addict6s games
it was fun playing with you
    looking forward to more

    ReplyDelete
  141. i totally agree Joe .. it's difficult to find riddles with walkthroughs and some explanations like in escape games and this is weird .. you usually find just some hints you basically never even heard of so you just get frustrated and quit !

    ReplyDelete
  142. and by the way on 7 keep in mind a letter would turn upside down if done correctly !

    ReplyDelete
  143. Walkthrough: This walkthrough contains explanations and partial answers for all levels.

    Level 1
The clue is in the text : I’ll need to get equipment first, and leave food till last. This means that when you go through the list if it's food take the last letter, if not take the first letter. This spells out a sentence : The answer is *******. You must therefore type "*******" in the answer box.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Level 2
5 words are written slightly differently (their first letters are bold) : singular, pack, down, pride, litter. If you google these words together, you will find they are all animal collective nouns. The text says the kittens need a name, you are therefore looking for a collective noun for kittens. Depending on which site you go to, you might have to try a few.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Level 3
Here there is no clue in the text, because it's a basic riddling trick. When you can't find anything, look for what you can't see (some people may even say it's one of the first things you must do when you get to a new level) : ctrl+A will select everything on the page, revealing two hidden letters in the first line : h and g. These letters are not randomly placed; with the "not" and "in" they form a word. This word is the answer to this level.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Level 4
The picture is just a red herring. This level has nothing to do whatsoever with binary. It's all in the title : "follow me" means you need to pick the letters which come just after the letters M and E in the text. You get : W, A, E, T, R. The text says they will not be in the right order, which means you need to anagram.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Level 5
These are indeed coordinates. They show you where to place dots in 2x3 grids. Each line is a grid, so each line is a letter in braille. After translating, you get a word, which is the answer to the level.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Level 6
This level uses the Gronsfeld cipher. The key is the flight number in the text "170585". After decoding you get a sentence and the answer is the last word of that sentence.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Level 7
The picture is called "turn round", indicating that you must turn the whole picture 90°, following the instructions in the text, ie Left, Left, Right, Left. After each turn, the letters will slide around on the picture. See what happens to each letter after each rotation, and in the end you'll be left with the letters "O, O, N, S, M". Note that because the letters also rotated the W became M (at the end the picture is upside down). Anagram, and you get the answer.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Level 8
You will need previous answers to solve this level. Going back or forward tells you which level you need (the steps tell you how to count) and going right or left tells you which letter to pick (the steps once again tell you how many to count). Proceeding in this way, you should get one word which is the answer.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Level 9
You need to form a word using the 3 sentences I heard. So each sentence gives you one or more letters. The first sentence says "she was beheaded". So take the first letter off "she" and that leaves you "he". The second sentence has a mistake you need to correct. You can't say "eated", you must say "ate". The last sentence is just the letter R. Put them all together and you have the answer.

Recognize the 2x3 grids? Yes it's braille again! But when you translate, it says "It's not really braille". So you need something else. Take the sentence literally, and it's saying "It's "not really braille"" . So type in "notreallybraille" and you get to an egg. This egg tells you how to decode each grid. Each colour has a value so add the buttons together in each grid and then translate to letters (1=A; 2=B; etc). You get "It's old mother hubbard". So once again take it literally and you have the answer.

The clue is the picture. What's so important about those chickens? The picture and the poem tell you they are "DOTty, and DASHing". Which code or alphabet uses dots and dashes? Morse, of course. The text tells you it sounds better out loud. That is because of the number of syllables in each word. 1 syllable= dot; 2 syllables = dash. Each line is a letter. But then you had probably already guessed the answer, because I'm sure it's the first thing you thought after reading the poem ;-). Only kidding!!!

This level is quite similar to level 4. The clue is the title. "Somewhere over the rainbow" means pick words (rather than letters this time), which are just above the colours in the text. By doing this you get a sentence, and the answer is the last word of that sentence.
