Small Strife is a, 60 levels, riddle based game created by SmallTool for EG24. This is the real deal you've been practising for the last four days. No, fancy riddle stuff like exif, source, picture manipulation, url things etc. etc. Just your brain and basic riddle tricks. It will start easy (especially when you played the 4 prequels), but will slowly get harder. Anyway, have a lot of fun with it and help each other a lot in the comments but...
Note: Please do not post direct answers, start with hints and after that big hints or even very, very big hints!

Hello all - good luck!
ReplyDeleteHello everybody
ReplyDeleteOh boy... here I go!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the riddle Small and Jon!
ReplyDeleteBahahaha! Starts easy?! Not for me!
ReplyDeletesay goodbye to your weekend...and the next one.....
ReplyDeleteS-T's idea of easy is way different from the rest of the world's :)
ReplyDeletedoes the 2015 mean the year we finish?
ReplyDeleteI'm still wondering if I should even start this monster of a riddle, but thanks for the riddle anyway small-tool and Jon. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL @annaby if we are lucky!
ReplyDeletewow, a new Kitchen Neat Escape, a Self Defiant, and this, too? I think I'd better start here...
ReplyDeleteFor 1 question, I need about 1 hour * 60 = finish 27 Jan 2014. Nice
ReplyDeletehas anyone solved level 1 yet? 4 patterns, 4 methods. The first could be up?
ReplyDeleteThat's without sleep, Zoran!
ReplyDeleteHi everyone :)
ReplyDeleteThanks again to Small-Tool & Jon............ the torture has begun!
zoz - if you start here, you may NEVER get to those other games!
ReplyDeletejust translate to letters according to pattern
ReplyDeleteall I can say is HELP and Im only on level 1
ReplyDeleteFor lvl 1, I did the obvious bits first.
ReplyDeletelol @Zoe. Yes, I'm already stuck. Based on the prequels, I'm assuming the italian flags translate to Roman Numerals?
ReplyDeletewow - got 1!!!
ReplyDelete@mattat100 does that mean how? is the letter i?
ReplyDeleteok can make some words if I use some of the numbers according to the colors but cant see where 2015 fits in
ReplyDeletebut what would O be in roman numerals?
ReplyDelete@annaby we waiting for you
ReplyDeleteno how = how others mean different things
ReplyDeletelokk at 2015 as 20 15
ReplyDeleteall i got is this:
ReplyDelete?
W VLC
O MV MMXV
H VLL
and thats to helping...or is it
switch roman numerals to letters, numbers to letters etc
ReplyDeleteFirst two levels are fairly easy if you did the prequels. For level 1, think about the common easiest ways to solve the puzzles in the prequels Level 2 is pretty straightforward.
ReplyDeleteSuck on level 3 though...
not all the things in level 1 are roman numerals. Remember there are four methods.
ReplyDeleteStuck on lvl 3 - I have no idea what I'm looking for
ReplyDeleteI got it!
ReplyDelete@CeeBee, I am stuck on lvl1 AND HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR :(
ReplyDeleteThanks @annaby! I guess we all knew the answer to level 1 already.
ReplyDelete@zoz, you are wrong. I don't know :)
ReplyDeleteI don't understand about the "V" though....
ReplyDeleteHmm! Level 3 looks tough!
ReplyDeletefor level 3, use logic to get them all to the other side, then look at your list
ReplyDelete@Zoran: LOL!! Look at what Casual posted at 9:58 - what does the last line remind you of
ReplyDeletelol @zoz.
ReplyDelete@Zoe - V=5=?
Zoe the V had two colours/methods.
ReplyDeleteSo First the top, that's Roman and Roman V is 5.
Then the bottom method (blue) numbers to letters.
@Zoe - what does the roman numeral V stand for? Why might it have two patterns?
ReplyDeleteoh dear, trying to get some work done and I am falling behind on this riddle. Still no idea about level 1 :( guess I should have done more then 1/2 the first prequel and the 4th one.
ReplyDeleteHi all!
ReplyDeleteThis should be interesting...
I've got level 1 and the answer doesn't fill me with too much hope for the rest of the riddle lol
Of course, now I can't get #2. Some people are already past it...I'v got 9 letters, but they don't make a word!
ReplyDeletewell, I got level 1 through a good guess. Hope I can understand how it was done at some point.
ReplyDelete@Zoe, just pay attention to what grandma is saying...
ReplyDeleteI can't find anything that makes a word either for lvl 2
ReplyDeleteOh, I see..I was looking at it as a letter!
ReplyDeleteFINALY I am on lvl2. YUPIIIIIIIIII YE
ReplyDeleteoh dear. maybe I should just give up now. Have 9 letters but no word. :(
ReplyDeleteok, i will have to get a me a coffee. i don't even get lvl 1. has the bottom line something to do with the devil?
ReplyDeleteYay! Done level 3.
ReplyDeletewell, I anagramed "the end" but got nothing...
ReplyDeleteoh duh duh duh ... finally got 2
ReplyDeleteCasual - YES
ReplyDelete@Zoe: "the end" are the important words ...
ReplyDeleteTips on level 3, I can solve the logic puzzle but don't see how that gives an answer
ReplyDeleteLevel 3 - solve the puzzle initially, then you'll get the answer.
ReplyDeleteon level 3, i can get them all across, but I don't see a word?
ReplyDeleteDr. Linus,
ReplyDeleteDon't forget about first things first and Granny.
@Dr.Linus: Me too, I've been looking at my list but can't make any sense of it
ReplyDeletePOP!! Just saw it! :)
ReplyDeleteWell done Cee Bee - I need help on level 4.
ReplyDeleteGot level 3. Granny means Ian or Nathan are interchangeable in the order.
ReplyDeleteI can't even get them all across!
ReplyDeleteStill stuck on level 2.
ReplyDelete@Jo-Ann: the answer is 9 letters; there are 9 words.
ReplyDeleteWhat is grandmaa telling you to do?
Did I mention I hate "crossing the river" puzzles?
ReplyDeleteLOL - well, it's been an hour now, and it looks like we've only got to level 4. SO, that means this will take us AT LEAST 13 or 14 hours to solve!
ReplyDeleteDone level 4. Onto level 5.
ReplyDeleteok - I've finally got them all across ...
ReplyDeleteWell done Kernowman - I was just gonna post that I'm working on it LOL!
ReplyDeleteI got them all across but I still have no idea what the answer is.
ReplyDeletewow finally got level 1 after looking at it again, clever one small-tool
ReplyDeleteI have 9 letters but they don't make a word?
ReplyDeleteHelp on level 3 please
ReplyDeleteI got them all across, and wrote down all the steps
but don't see how to get the answer
level 4: pay attention to the title, "Opposites of opposites", then consult granny
ReplyDelete@Jo-Ann and Morgana, have you consulted with granny?
ReplyDeleteGood luck guys - I gottta go. Struggling to make sense of level 5. Done the obvious bit but the result makes no sense yet.
ReplyDelete@Jo-Ann - did you look at "the end" and anagram?
ReplyDeletemorgana initially you should include simon more than once
ReplyDeleteyes, checked with 3 grannies. must have the wrong letters
ReplyDeleteGot it lvl 3!
ReplyDeleteOh man feeling stupid. missed a letter. got it now.
ReplyDeleteHad some ideas about level 5, none working. help?
ReplyDeleteCan you tell me how many letters i need on level 3?
ReplyDeleteYes, I've tried granma
Jo-Ann: It's not "first things first"
ReplyDeleteOn to lvl 5 !
ReplyDelete8 letters for level 3
ReplyDeletenvm, got it. But it was kind of a guess
ReplyDeleteJo-Ann-don't feel bad - I wrote one of the letters down wrong!!
ReplyDelete8 letters for level 3, so we are looking for synonyms for level 4 I assume?
ReplyDeletefinally got 3 after continual misspelling :)
ReplyDeleteonto level 4 now. kind of guessed level 3 halfway through
ReplyDeleteOn level 5, do we actually do the ladder for each picture? Somehow I think I'm looking at this wrong.
ReplyDeletelvl:3: got them all to the other side, but i'm stuck anyways.
ReplyDeleteare the first 6 letters about people from a certain continent?
Zoz,
ReplyDeletePictures are only (kind of) telling you what it is and what to do.
@casual, not about a continent. More like a job they may have had to get them where they are
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletelevel 5 makes me look up random stuff on the internet
ReplyDeleteseems like the possibilities are endless in level 4.
ReplyDeleteStuck o lvl 5 now, the ghost leg puzzle
ReplyDeletegoogle the last 2 pics and see how to do it then apply the first pic when completed the ladders
ReplyDelete@s-t, who is the guy in the picture on lvl 5?
ReplyDeleteSo @s-t, it's just telling me it's a Rotten G____ L__?
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDelete@small-tool, who is the guy in the picture on lvl 5?
ReplyDeletethanks Jo-Ann. that means i'm way of track (asian...). i'm not quite sure how often i have to use simon in the solution.
ReplyDeletefor level 5, as you move through the puzzle, add or subtract for a new number
ReplyDelete@Zoran, he's a member of the Sex Pistols
ReplyDeleteZoran,
ReplyDeleteThe guy is Johnny ROTten.
thanks! finally made it to lvl 4.
ReplyDeletebtw: does anyone else have "error 503" problems on EG24?
25 versions of rotting. Any clues?
ReplyDeleteCasual - Yes!
ReplyDeletesuck on 4, do the words on the left correspond to the ones on the right or are the mixed up on the right?
ReplyDeleteYes, been receiving "error 503" for about 25 minutes Casual, I need another clue for level 4 please.
ReplyDelete@Casual, yes I do!
ReplyDeleteStuck badly on lvl 5! and still 55 to go
ReplyDelete4 takes two translations, opposite, then the opposite again.
ReplyDeleterot yes but after completing
ReplyDeletelevel 4 read it ,it says find the opposite then find opposite of the new word
for level 4: if the opposite of "new" is "old", would the next opposite either "plo" or "dlo" (mirrored or backwards)?
ReplyDeleteCasual, not mirrored, but an opposite again
ReplyDeleteCasual, think Right - Left - Arrived...
ReplyDelete@casual, think of just the word "old". What are some possibilities for the opposite? (Hint: it's something I'm not anymore)
ReplyDeleteOnto level 5!! Absolutely loving this game!! :D :D Thanks ST!
ReplyDeletehmm, thought i found solution for lvl 4, but "warned" is wrong
ReplyDeletePOP! duh! thanks, got it now. onto lvl 5
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDelete@Casual: anagram that word you got. :)
ReplyDelete@Casual, try using granny on that again
ReplyDeleteLevel 5 is going to drive me to the kitchen for some ice cream. It probably won't help any, but I'll feel better.
ReplyDeletestuck on lvl 5, S/T Help
ReplyDelete2 hours on lvl 5. Disaster
ReplyDelete@zoz I feel better with sandwich in mu hands.
ReplyDeletethis will be a long night!!!!!
ReplyDeleteZoran, walk the ghostleg like you should do and see how many steps to the left or right you went. And then, well, you know about rot, right?
ReplyDelete3 hours to do 5 levels if I ever finish level 5, this will be a good place to stop for today. 5 levels a day, projected finishing date is Feb 5th.
ReplyDeleteFINALLY!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks small tool!!
Thanks ST! Now 6.
ReplyDeleteOn level 5 i know wich kind of puzzle it is, i solve it and got a string of 6 letters, then i apply the cipher (for Jhonny Rotten) but get nothing from it..
ReplyDeleteGrego, S-T gave a huge hint.
ReplyDeleteO. M. G. I finally got level 5. I'm with c0ffe7; maybe I'll just take a week or two for this one.
ReplyDeleteThanks @small-tool and jon!
Go go go Zoz :)
ReplyDeleteYou will like/hate level 8 :P
I'm still stuck on 3. Got everybody across safely, but it took fewer than 8 steps and I don't know if I should be looking at first or last letter of their names or what...
ReplyDeleteCourtney, don't forget to include Simon in the crossings, starts with A
ReplyDeleteS/T, my hair is falling out on lvl 6. Clues??
ReplyDelete@Zoran: How many symbols are and how many groups of chs below?
ReplyDeleteI literally have no idea. Stuck.
ReplyDeleteThat tells you how many letters you're looking for. Do something with each symbol as directed to get each letter
ReplyDeleteZoran, the instructions below tell you it's current position and then it's position in the answer, the directions tell you how much to rotate the letters
ReplyDeleteI'l just take a look at the beginning today, too tired
ReplyDeletesmall-tool and Jonthewatch thank you!
I just moved to hell ;)
even with the hint s-t gave I'm stuck on 5, the letters I get don't form an exisiting word. Where do I go wrong? Tried the steps along the way down and/or the end.
ReplyDeleteI got that long time ago but I keep getting a lot of cs and it doesnt make any sense
ReplyDelete6 looks pretty straight forward, but how much to turn? Is EE twice to the right???
ReplyDeleteZoran,
ReplyDeleteThe first one should give you an N and that would be letter 6 in your answer.
Ike the Q becomes an S
Use that method for the other letters, no anagram.
I think I understand the E and W on 6, but can anyone make sense of the N and S?
ReplyDeleteS/T I get W U E M O N T C. Not any sense.
ReplyDeletewhere did that Q did all of sudden come from? am I missing something?
ReplyDeleteZoran,
ReplyDeleteW, U and T are wrong.
Thats what I'm stuck with too Zoran!
ReplyDeleteThanks s-t but the letter r makes no sense to me. It's no "rotten"r , lol
ReplyDelete@Zoran: you have 3 wrong - in each case they are upside down
ReplyDeleteMy internet went down for a few hours...it's bad weather here so it may happen again. I'm still on level 4.
ReplyDeletelevel 6 will give me the nightmares later!
ReplyDeleteWell, I got 7 with the help of the clues above, but I'm afraid that turning the letters didn't make any sense in most cases to me. Some of them seemed to just turn them back to where they started.
ReplyDeleteAh well - on to 8.
Ike,
ReplyDeleteNot sure what R you mean.
I meant going down ghostleg from the Q you end up (at the bottom) two places more to the right, so that makes the Q+2 (in the alphabet) an S.
Do the same with the other letters.
S/T I am now EUPHORIC. Thanks
ReplyDeleteOops, I meant I got 6 - which I didn't understand. Went on to 7 which was easy, NOW on 8. Talk about confused!
ReplyDeleteHad 6 for a while, was misspelling when I was typing in the ans...
ReplyDeleteo dear, I was only adding, duh. Therefore the R made no sense. Thanks !
ReplyDeleteIs level 8 granny again?
ReplyDeletelvl 8. Eaisy.
ReplyDeleteI think for level 8 it's about differences between british and american english. for instance the 7th word (.....box)
ReplyDeleteNope, no anagram needed in level 8
ReplyDelete....to destroy myself.
ReplyDeleteNo need for granny on level 8
ReplyDeletelevel 6 is kind of mean to non-english speakers... just a reminder for you, s-t
ReplyDeleteLol, Zoz, and so is level 8 and 16 :P
ReplyDeleteI think by the time I get to level 60 I'll be 60!
ReplyDeletelvl 9 is the best
ReplyDeleteAh, minty! Now on to 9...
ReplyDeleteHow many letters is the answer for 8?
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteNever mind, got it! Have to run. Try 9 and on tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh finally an easy one for me! Got level 7 so fast! Yay me! Now I have to run and play later. I sure I will be stuck on 8 a long time.
ReplyDeleteMako, you should get it initially.
ReplyDeleteIn level 8 you need to substitute US for us. There are nine of them.
ReplyDeleteOh I just read 8 and I have an idea but no time! ACCKKK!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the wonderful puzzle small-tool and Jon!
I'm already failing on 9. Are eye-charts any use?
ReplyDelete@Luke 9 letters for lvl 8
ReplyDeleteHmmm, stuck on 9.
ReplyDelete@Clodagh: You don't need an eye-chart, just look for 'eyes'
ReplyDeleteClodagh,
ReplyDeleteDon't overthink. No Google. You learned something on Prequel 4, level 2, right?
Aha, I was looking for u's :)
ReplyDeleteWhat ST - you expect me to remember exactly what that was now, after frazzling my brain here?
ReplyDeleteOOOH! Hi Me2, long time no see
