Small Tool Strife

Small Strife is a, 60 levels, riddle based game created by SmallTool for EG24. This is the real deal you've been practising for the last four days. No, fancy riddle stuff like exif, source, picture manipulation, url things etc. etc. Just your brain and basic riddle tricks. It will start easy (especially when you played the 4 prequels), but will slowly get harder. Anyway, have a lot of fun with it and help each other a lot in the comments but...

Note: Please do not post direct answers, start with hints and after that big hints or even very, very big hints!

  2. S/T "Cute puppy butt pic". I don't see any connection.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Hi CeeBee, I've been here, just lurking because I got a new computer and couldn't remember my gmail account I never use :) All good with you other than this fiendish puzzle?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Yep Zoran.
And what was an 'eye' there?

    ReplyDelete
  5. I'm good Me2 :)

We might be here a while, I think we have to get comfy and put our thinking caps on :)

    ReplyDelete
  6. lvl 9: is it important what the guy on the first picture has on top of his glasses?

    ReplyDelete
  7. An 'eye' is a letter, or a vowel, or part of a rebus. I don't know, I've tried all sorts of things.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Is it anything to do with 'eye' as in 'I' or 'me'?

    ReplyDelete
  9. eye is part of our body, but this is not an answer.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Indeed Clodagh, it's a letter.
Now, read the text (especially the last part) and find your answer.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I'm giving up for tonight, come again tomorrow, thank you and leave lots of hints ;) good luck

    ReplyDelete
  12. @Clodagh: It's a letter and a vowel............. look for it.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Even tried 'ewhye'. Hmmph.

    ReplyDelete
  14. S/T is that you in the egg?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Lol, yep Zoran, I'm in that egg. But forget about the pic, focus on the Text.

    ReplyDelete
  16. @Clodagh: You want what's BEFORE your 'eyes'

    ReplyDelete
  17. I've got to go, I'm on 11, hope you are all way past me when I get back so I can learn from your questions.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Oops, sorry Enzed, that was a cipher I didn't cover in the Prequels.
    Pigpen.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Wow, that last clue got it for me Cee Bee - thank you! I was concentrating just on the last bit - I didn't realise that I was looking for what came before ALL the 'eyes'!

    ReplyDelete
  20. @me2, before you live, help us with lvl10

    ReplyDelete
  21. does the egg mean I need to go back, or is it level 10 Part 2?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Like Tim said, you have to go back.

    ReplyDelete
  23. well I've read up on PP but don't see how everything I need is in the pic- hmmmm!

    ReplyDelete
  24. @Tim: It's level 10 part 2, you need another answer. I'm trying to think of the best way to help.

@enzed: If you look you'll see some symbols have dots others do not

    ReplyDelete
  25. Tired now - back again tomorrow. Nighty night!

    ReplyDelete
  26. arrgghhh, came back to try my idea for level 8 but I didn't get enough vowels to form a word.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I can honestly say that I have no idea where to go with this level 11. I thought I needed some kind of reference grid for PP, the phrase underneath gives dots but no position so I suspect I'm up completely the wrong tree

    ReplyDelete
  28. @enzed: maybe this will help

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pigpen_cipher

    ReplyDelete
  29. Any more hints for level 1 please?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Jo-Ann: 3 vowels in the answer for lvl 8

    ReplyDelete
  31. Now... As a present for my birthday, a small clue for lvl 10 egg would be great :D

    ReplyDelete
  32. Aargh, I can't stay away. Hint for 12 please?

    ReplyDelete
  33. @Jo-Ann on level 8 the answer will spell out as you find the right words(letters). It's a 9 letter word, one letter for each replaced word in the text.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hi all !! Good luck !!

    ReplyDelete
  35. @Me2: I'm stuck there too - have been for a while

    ReplyDelete
  36. Ah- I needed directions- in this case literally:)

    ReplyDelete
  37. for 12 : first look at the numbers carefully

    ReplyDelete
  38. Come on guys, level 12 was covered in the very first level of the lectures. Remember Prequel 1, level 1?
And if you don't, do the numbers on top to alphabet.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Robin, dont know what hints are already here ,didnt have time to check , but do you recognise the flag ? convert

    ReplyDelete
  40. Zoran- if you're at the egg you might need to reverse one screen

    ReplyDelete
  41. Zoran , you do recognise the code ,no ? do it a little differently ,not as you read

    ReplyDelete
  42. @CeeBee thanks for the hint. I know I have made a mistake but am on the right track.

Will have to check in later.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I've been looking at first letters for level 12 for over an hour and am still not getting anywhere. I've looked in the text, the newspaper article and anywhere else I can find - I'm totally frustrated and know I'll be even more so when I finally see it. I need a flourescent light.

    ReplyDelete
  44. ceebee ,on the english text but dont forget smt !!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Getting closer... made a word of the last 4 letters! (level 8)

S-T you are evil.... I should be getting so many things done and yet here I am, sneaking back to play!

    ReplyDelete
  46. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  47. lvl 10: the title clearly says what to do, right?! but that leads you to the egg...
and granmaa doesn't seem to work.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I've got the letters in 12 but not managed to actually come up with the answer- what am I missing?

    ReplyDelete
  49. casual , look at the titles 1st letters carefully

    ReplyDelete
  50. Go, go, go Enzed, you're doing great :)

    ReplyDelete
  51. 13 was :)
14 has me stumped- but thanks for the encouragement

    ReplyDelete
  52. 14 is a very basic alphabet/cipher.
The triangle is a 'very poor' hint for what alphabet.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Woohoo did it on my own! onto level 9

    ReplyDelete
  54. lvl 12 what about Russian text?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Wow, still stuck on 12. When you say text do you mean newspaper text or the english above or below it?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Helpp on level 7, i know it is referring to states from USA but dont know wich ones to pick..

    ReplyDelete
  57. Oh, I got sentence, hang on.

    ReplyDelete
  58. @grego: You need the ones that only have four.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Grego, find the three with only four letters

    ReplyDelete
  60. Level 12 is only about the English text.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I have a six word sentence, am I on the right track?

    ReplyDelete
  62. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Yep Me2, you're on the right track.
Now do it again!!! like that sentence tells you to do.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Never even gotten one of these puzzles. Am I getting close with "hellometowelc" on level one?

    ReplyDelete
  65. rds, did you notice the capital letters of the text ? then look the last comments above

    ReplyDelete
  66. i looked at the title of level 10. all i can see is the obvious.
i tried to read backwards, granmaa and tons of stuff (btw: "hgaodagaf" is the squence of 1st letters from titles 1-9).
i'm just writing this, because i'm hoping for a POP...

    ReplyDelete
  67. Vance Noonan,
You got all the letters correct, but somehow you made them into a different order.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I have not idea about lvl 12. I am totally stuck.

    ReplyDelete
  69. @Vance Noonan: very close! you have all the correct letters, just the wrong order.

    ReplyDelete
  70. casual , you said "read backwards" but what ??

    ReplyDelete
  71. oh now. I think know what you mean @new. I will check that out

    ReplyDelete
  72. 15 is getting me frustrated and nauseous at the same time- having to stare at the large picture is not doing my stomach any favours. I know who they all are, I know what the 4 titles are, I have read the "clue" and yet........,

    ReplyDelete
  73. finally onto 11! a huge thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Haha, first word of my sentence was only three letters not seven. Finally got it!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Enzed,
The text (when using basic tricks) told you what A and B stands for.
Answer is a 4 letter word.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I'm stumped with Lv 8, partially due to not being able to tell which words are American and which aren't. (The curse of being an American who enjoys watching Top Gear!)

Casual said there are 3 vowels, but I'm only finding 2.

What I'm guessing at right now:

    POSSIBLE SPOILER???
    mbstawash
    END POSSIBLE SPOILER???

Which I can't make a word out of at all.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Good night people. See yo tomorrow (today).

    ReplyDelete
  78. Ha! I was reading bottom to top. I guess I shouldn't ignore him when he says don't worry about it being written upside down.

    ReplyDelete
  79. @Viridian: you have 3 mistakes. bs is wrong and the first a is also not correct.

    ReplyDelete
  80. viridian, you have 3 letters wrong , theres a page where you can find the different words

    ReplyDelete
  81. Enzed, you're pulling away from the pack. Glad you found 13 easy. I have the sentence and that's it.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Level 2: coincidence that "in the end" anagrams to "I need hint"? Guess I'll go back and look at level 2 hints!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Well done Enzed!! Don't forget to help the rest of us catch up :)

    ReplyDelete
  84. @veridian: your second, third, and fifth letters are wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  85. where are you now Cee Bee?

    ReplyDelete
  86. I'm on 13 Enzed - Like Me2, I have a sentence, nothing more

    ReplyDelete
  87. a bigger hint on level 10 please, i got to the egg, and went back but have no idea what to do next.

    ReplyDelete
  88. the sentence is correct- especially the first part of it

    ReplyDelete
  89. rds- re-read what you have just written and follow your own instruction!

    ReplyDelete
  90. rds665, did you try going backwards?

    ReplyDelete
  91. Okay, so granny's involved with level 10. Got it now, on to 11!

(And why the heck did it log me in as Viridian earlier? I haven't used that account in ages!)

    ReplyDelete
  92. cee bee- there was a comment made about question 1 that we all knew the answer anyway- you could say the same thing about 13.

    ReplyDelete
  93. CeeBee, for 13, be sure you are seeing everything

    ReplyDelete
  94. I can't believe that I'm only on level 16 and stuck (again!)
This is going to take forever to finish all the levels:(

    ReplyDelete
  95. ceebee, 2 very basic things done in riddles , for 13

    ReplyDelete
  96. Despite all the hints, I'm still not progressing on 13 :(

    ReplyDelete
  97. I think CeeBee and I have done the first basic thing to get the sentence. Granny doesn't seem to want to play, no numbers, feel like I'm missing something very obvious but what...

    ReplyDelete
  98. Enzed,
The pic and title are telling you something about letters in the text.

    ReplyDelete
  99. CeeBee, as always it's nice to be stuck with you :)

    ReplyDelete
  100. TY Me2 :)

I think I crashed & burned around level 9 LOL!!

    ReplyDelete
  101. for 13 , 1)find smt hidden 2) first things first

    ReplyDelete
  102. ST- that was something I tried which gives me up to around 13 letters but they don't seem to lead me anywhere

    ReplyDelete
  103. Enzed,
Only one letter from every word.
Try to find a site if you are not certain.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Off to eat dinner (udon noodle soup), CeeBee leave me a strong hint when you figure it out.

    ReplyDelete
  105. CeeBee, for 13, Im sure you know how to 'control a' keyboard. Hope that helps.

    ReplyDelete
  106. After all the hand-holding I got 13 - I truly was being dense and making things far too complicated mea culpa!

    ReplyDelete
  107. On 13 i have an answer made from the numbers, thenthanks to Clio ;) i found a two word hidden but dont know how that can help me...

    ReplyDelete
  108. well done CB- now hurry up and help me with 16 will you! I'm sure you'll fly through 14 & 15

    ReplyDelete
  109. @Grego: Don't overcomplicate it like I did............. look at the title and what you found hidden and apply the first things first rule.

    ReplyDelete
  110. enzed, sometimes letters are quiet

    ReplyDelete
  111. yes Donas- I have ten of them but haven't made an answer that works

    ReplyDelete
  112. Oh and believe in your answer! (nudge, nudge, wink, wink).

    ReplyDelete
  113. enzed, 10 is enough, 2 words

    ReplyDelete
  114. So..the whole list of words next to each number is not important..?

    ReplyDelete
  115. Level 6, I have the answer but i'm still trying to understand what the directions meant. They turned out to be:
    WE - upside down
WS - flip to the left
    EN - flip to left
NE - flip to the right
NS - upside down (i think)
EE - ? (but it didn't really matter)

Does anyone understand what the NESW letters meant? I thought directions but still don't understand it.

    ReplyDelete
  116. donas- are there any clues going as to how to make these words from my letters. Anags don't seem to work and I can almost just read a word (say what you see style) with the first 8 letters but nothing is working overall

    ReplyDelete
  117. enzed, it should anagram, maybe check your letters again

    ReplyDelete
  118. enzed ,10 letters and anagram ,maybe you have to check your letters again?

    ReplyDelete
  119. Got it! onto 14! thankss :D

    ReplyDelete
  120. c0fe, use the number of degrees and the direction between the letters to know how to rotate

    ReplyDelete
  121. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Sorry Donna, I guess I still don't understand, do you mean like 90 degrees or 180 degrees?

    ReplyDelete
  123. i dont know what i am looking for at level 15 i have laready oogled each pic and have every info...

    ReplyDelete
  124. Grego, for 15, Read the text under the pic. First things first after all.

    ReplyDelete
  125. c0fe, yes, like 90° or 180°

    ReplyDelete
  126. bye bye all ,see you tomorrow , good luck !!

    ReplyDelete
  127. Grego, how'd you do 14 so quick :)

    ReplyDelete
  128. @Me2 look at the shape where the drawings are ;)

I have the two word thing from the text and everyinf from the images..but what is next? doing again first thingsfirst wont help

    ReplyDelete
  129. Hi again Me2 - what level are you on now?

    ReplyDelete
  130. I'm on 14, just got back. How about you?

    ReplyDelete
  131. Grego, notice the band in the background of the pic and how that band spells their name?

    ReplyDelete
  132. I'm on 15 - know all the albums and artists - saw the clue in the text, know the band in the background and still can't figure it out

    ReplyDelete
  133. Thnks Clio Forgot to say i had the name of the background band, tryed to take firsts and second letters as the band name tells and nothing...

    ReplyDelete
  134. Grego, find something else to use for the 2 letters you have

    ReplyDelete
  135. Couple of hours away and I came up with 2! The subconscious mind is wonderful!

    ReplyDelete
  136. Grego and Ceebee. Do you see any correlation between what you were asked to find, and how the background band spells their name?

    ReplyDelete
  137. How many letters on 15 - just 4?

    ReplyDelete
  138. Got itt thankyou!! onto 16! :D

    ReplyDelete
  139. I've still got nothing on 14. Initial letters of objects? Initial letters of sentences?

    ReplyDelete
  140. @Me2 Forget about the text that counfuses, look at the shape where the symbols are in, you will know what to do ;)

    ReplyDelete
  141. Me2, for 14, the picture tells you everything you need. Where would you find a pyramid?

    ReplyDelete
  142. where you left it- they're pretty big you know.....

    Sorry(:

    ReplyDelete
  143. For level 17, i think i know to wich level to go back, i try using the page title (three letters) but dont know what to look for.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Grego, for 17, you need more than 1 level

    ReplyDelete
  145. Did you find the code for 14 Me2?

    ReplyDelete
  146. Got ittt onto 18 :D had to go back :P in more than one level

    ReplyDelete
  147. Hi Grego- w.d. you're doing better than me- I'm stuck with trawling through old levels blindly

    ReplyDelete
  148. enzed, focus on the first word in the pic

    ReplyDelete
  149. @Enzed: And you're doing better than me :)

I'm still trying to find the correct silent letters.

    ReplyDelete
  150. well Donas replied quickly enzed :P 6 levels in total

What should i do on level 18? i think i get the reason of the image with the circles, but what with calcium?

    ReplyDelete
  151. Grego, if you have the meaning of the image, then use it

    ReplyDelete
  152. no- still no idea what I'm looking for at all

    ReplyDelete
  153. Enzed,
    Primary is/sounds like???
    2, 3 5 etc

    ReplyDelete
  154. I was nowhere near that one!

    ReplyDelete
  155. Hintss for 19 ! :D jeje I'm sure that Caesar is speaking srunk for a reason.....

    ReplyDelete
  156. need more help on level 12, the hints posted are not helping

    ReplyDelete
  157. 18- we seem to be in double meanings of degrees and pi but I'm not sure where to take it

    ReplyDelete
  158. pinkgirl- have you made any progress with it?

    ReplyDelete
  159. Enzed,
18 is all about picking letters (no anagram).

    ReplyDelete
  160. I'm stuck on level 12 too.
    Found a sentence: a****** t*** t* a***** i* n*****
but then i don't know how to apply it

    ReplyDelete
  161. Morgana
take a look at what you have written

    ReplyDelete
  162. Morgana - look closely at what you just posted... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  163. pinkgirl9688 and Morgana Queiroz,

    Do what you did again!

    ReplyDelete
  164. I don't know what Morgana Queiroz did. I have know idea how to get that sentence

    ReplyDelete
  165. Thanks @enzed and @rbud57!
I hope to catch up with you all

    ReplyDelete
  166. PinkG

    ReplyDelete
  167. on level 13, still don't understand level 12 though, thx for help

    ReplyDelete
  168. calling it quits for the night, be back tomorrow

    ReplyDelete
  169. Wow, started 10 hours behind, now stuck on 14. I'd still be on #8 w/o the hints!
Got the right language, got 5 letters, can't rot them or granny them. What am I missing?

    ReplyDelete
  170. @Just1 - Check your letters, they should granny

    ReplyDelete
  171. Just1,
Just 5 letters to decipher (no anagram). It's the ancient alphabet in that country with those big, big, pyramids.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Hints for 17 please.
I don't know which levels i have to go back to

    ReplyDelete
  173. Morgana Queiroz,
    Think ´prime´

    ReplyDelete
  174. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  175. @CeeBee, thx but still doesn't work, even substituting e for i

Maybe I'm using the wrong site - I'll look some more

    ReplyDelete
  176. Just came back, got 14 (can't believe I completely missed it) and laughed at Enzed's comment at 7:53.

    ReplyDelete
  177. level 13 is giving me a headache .. any more clues?

    ReplyDelete
  178. Close to 400 comments, so new comments will be on the next page

    ReplyDelete
  179. Little lost on 15. Clio's clue at 7:25 isn't helping any...I know the artists, I know the albums, I know about that stupid little flipped B, but I'm getting nowhere. :[
