Small Tool Strife

Small Strife is a, 60 levels, riddle based game created by SmallTool for EG24. This is the real deal you've been practising for the last four days. No, fancy riddle stuff like exif, source, picture manipulation, url things etc. etc. Just your brain and basic riddle tricks. It will start easy (especially when you played the 4 prequels), but will slowly get harder. Anyway, have a lot of fun with it and help each other a lot in the comments but...

Note: Please do not post direct answers, start with hints and after that big hints or even very, very big hints!

  1. Check your countries - you should have 7

    ReplyDelete
  2. I think I blew it somewhere between typing in the answer and hitting 'enter'. It totally worked the second time :)

    ReplyDelete
  3. Enzed: leave your words in the same order as in the pic on the levl page, just use the groupings for the method to pick. There are 2 methods both basic - you'll find some good clues in earlier comments

    ReplyDelete
  4. 25's doing a good job of stumping me so far. Adding up the digits on each clock to make letters made a word, but that went nowhere, not even to an egg.

No other ideas are coming to mind...little help?

(Oh, and someone might wanna put the 200-post warning up.)

    ReplyDelete
  5. I was putting all the blues together then trying to pick the blue numbers 8,6,7 etc. Is this the wrong approach as it just isn't getting through to me at the moment?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Oops! Nevermind on the 200-post warning, then!

Still could use a nudge on 25, though.

    ReplyDelete
  7. oops- I meant reds for those numbers

    ReplyDelete
  8. xaq, have you found the word that might me an egg?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Enzed: You have to use the same method for each group, but arrange the picked letters in the order of the words in the level once you have them

    ReplyDelete
  10. On level 14, I get letters MAYED but can't form a word

    ReplyDelete
  11. @Donas: If it's a 6-letter word that starts with a C, then yeah, I've found thOH MY GOD I JUST REALIZED IT.

*facepalms, laughs* On to 26, then!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Pinkgirl: double check the D, there's another symbol that's very similar

    ReplyDelete
  13. ...and am I picking from my assembled string of red words or somewhere else???

    ReplyDelete
  14. Enzed: In your earlier post you said you had 8,6,7 etc for the red words. That's correct. Just make sure that the letter you pick from the first red word is the first letter of your answer because it's the first word in the list in the pic. The first blue letter would be the 2nd letter of your answer because it's the 2nd word in the list in the pic etc.

    hope that makes sense

    ReplyDelete
  15. could someone spoil level 15, I don't know how to cut pictures into parts nor do I want to know, I just want to move on to level 16

    ReplyDelete
  16. im still not understanding lvl 22. is the entire line with the blotches supposed to be the read for the code or only around the blotches? i read where not look read the white but it's almost impossible. my eyes are probably too terrible for this lol

    ReplyDelete
  17. pinkgirl, you will need to do this again, I'll tell you how if you want me to

    ReplyDelete
  18. nevermind got level 15 on my own

    ReplyDelete
  19. thak you CeeBee- I was in the right area but my execution wasn't quite aligned which left me nowhere! How far are you now?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Butterfly, for level 22, look at the black dots and dashes in the white spaces, starts ST

  22. Okay, just to see if I'm getting the clues for 26 right...
off the first line, I've gotten BL ...aaand then I'm lost.

    ReplyDelete
  23. xaq: You're on the right track - do what the next instruction says

    ReplyDelete
  24. xaq, BL is right, now just go down... and keep following those steps

    ReplyDelete
  25. Good morning again. lvl 23.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Okay, I think I'm starting to work it out...I think I might have taken a wrong turn somewhere about 5-6 letters in. The first 4 spell a word starting with B...am I at least on the right track?

    ReplyDelete
  27. xaq: Sounds like you're on the right track.

    ReplyDelete
  28. @ceebee, for lvl23, what about first blue words with #15?

    ReplyDelete
  29. xaq, just go down and grab those last 2 letters

    ReplyDelete
  30. WOO! Got it! Thanks guys, on to 27.

    ReplyDelete
  31. For 28:
Do Rob and the types of numbers relate? I can't figure out where to start for each type. Should I get a 3 letter word, or four?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Sorry Zoran, missed you post - I don't understand your question

    ReplyDelete
  33. I have all numbers, for example, blue words with #18,12,15 make me confused.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Candi, 28 is a tricky level, relate R-O-B to the colors, but first you need to find a picture of something Johnny (the real one) recorded, it's yellow and pink. You should see 2 words there that look like the numbers on the level, use those words to rot with the numbers

    ReplyDelete
  35. I think I'm on the right path with 27...Got all the people ID'd, and going off a First Things First metnality, I got the title of a kid's movie from the middle pictures and a 2-letter word on the top... but the last 2 aren't giving me anything.

    ReplyDelete
  36. xaq, the 2 at the top are a hint for what you need, google will help, the kid;s movie is a red herring

    ReplyDelete
  37. @Donas:
Thanks for the kick in the right direction!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I can't go to bed w/o beating lvl 30 and reaching the halfway point.

It looks simple. But I got gibberish. And my brain is slowly shutting down....

    ReplyDelete
  39. Candi, the B you need isn't the one it looks like, but I "can't see" how to tell you the B you need ;)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Donas to the rescue, again! :)
How do I keep missing that trick? It tripped me up before. :)

    Well, goodnight all!

    ReplyDelete
  41. (Xaq here; LiveJournal's glitching up, so I can't post using it as reference for the moment. :[ )
Donas, about your clue for 28 at 10:40 - Was the first word in the thing Johnny recorded "Never" by any chance?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Any help for lvl 25,please....

    ReplyDelete
  43. good morning, could I get a big hint for lvl 20. Counted, and counted and counted but still 0 result. Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  44. (Ah, working again.)
Ike and I must have a major time zone difference...you're saying good morning, and I'm saying good night. I'll pick this up tomorrow; I think I've got the letters I need to work with, I just have to figure out what to do with them. Maybe a good night's rest will help.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Still no idea of 25. I found a word, i think, but no idea what to do. Off to Gatamari. Will try again later.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Stuck on 17. Got the prime numbers idea. And there are 17 words in the text. Have got my answers but don't know what to do. Any help out there?

    ReplyDelete
  47. @minxi it's not the answers! you need this time, think opposite.

    ReplyDelete
  48. For 24 you have to rearrange the triangles in one large triangle and answer the question

    ReplyDelete
  49. Thanks ike! I've taken the first letters of the level titles too but can't get anywhere.

    ReplyDelete
  50. @minxi, you probably have 1 wrong then, they are in order, how many do you have?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Dutchie and Zoran, level 25
You're looking for an English expression.
Take a good look at the clock(s) and then Google a bit with some important keywords. One keyword would be the word you already found.

    Ike, level 20
The rot for the first two letters would be 2 and 4, Think how that can be and you know how to find the others.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Thanks s-t, got it finally.

    ReplyDelete
  53. s/t, got the word, googled but i am getting nothing so far. does it have to do with sports or just a grammatical expression?

    ReplyDelete
  54. I have 8 first letters and 33 in total. Thanks again.

    ReplyDelete
  55. @ s-t thanks, made the same mistake as on lvl 18, not to take it word by word. Probably will bother you (and others) again and again, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  56. @minxi, you only need 6 first letters, if necessary google a list to see which ones.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Thanks so much! I was including the first one. So obvious now!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Zoran,
    grammatical expression.
    The colour is important.

    ReplyDelete
  59. on 23 I went all the way back to lvl 1 and found no words, do I have to look elsewhere?

    ReplyDelete
  60. Ike...a number associated with Friday is considered VERY unlucky...go back to that level. ...

    ReplyDelete
  61. @ clio_rose, appearantly I need glasses after lvl 22, thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  62. No worries ike........i have advertised on Ebay for a set of new eyeballs too........and im charging them to small-tool's credit card.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I've decoded the title on 31 and found what looks like an instruction but I don't know how to apply it. Am I on the right track?

    ReplyDelete
  64. CeeBee, right track, now read another way for 3 more letters

    ReplyDelete
  65. lvl 26, found the song, do I need granmaa ? because down in a....gives more possibilities.

    ReplyDelete
  66. No anagram Ike.
After going down inna, you should end in an empty box. Then repeat your method.
    You only need 6 letters.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Lvl 27, I know everyone's ID, i know what the first two pics mean and who did what, i know where all the people from the pics are from, and that the middle pics give a name of a movie for kids but... still nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  68. ...misspelled something, got it, onto lvl 28

    ReplyDelete
  69. Zoran, granny should tell you something with where they are from

    ReplyDelete
  70. I accept any help for lvl 29. Thanks in advance.

    ReplyDelete
  71. @Zoran: Find who that person is and his version of the song given. That will give you the right direction.

    ReplyDelete
  72. lvl 27, should I translate granny's answer? The word she gives me isn't English.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Ike,
It should give a normal word.
But did you read a bit back in the comments? It's not about the pesrons names.

    ReplyDelete
  74. on lvl 30, about that bee. should i think of it as a bee or as something else?

    ReplyDelete
  75. rather funny, by mistake I included the top picture and got a German word which even related well to the subject. Deleted one letter and found it after that.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Zoran,
Think of it as the letter B (the first letter of a cipher).

    ReplyDelete
  77. I must be missing something pretty blatant on level 28.

I'm pretty sure I've got the words that go with the numbers (S** P******), but nothing I'm doing them makes a word, even if granny gets involved. I tried ROTting up by the numbers, but all I get is 2 backwards words and a 4-letter undecipherable mush.

    ReplyDelete
  78. lvl 31:
I thought I got 3 letters that from the title of the text in the box. So, I tried the technique on the level title and got 3 letters that (maybe?) are an instruction.

But nothing is working as the answer.

    ReplyDelete
  79. xaq,
The colours also kind of tell you to anagram in groups and not all together.

    ReplyDelete
  80. S/T I have tried everything on lvl 30, but nothing make sense.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Candi, for level 31, 3 letters from title in the box is correct, now a simple method on that same title for 3 more

    ReplyDelete
  82. @Zoran: Donas' comment @11:49 should put you on the right track.

Ps. Not everything the is in a straight line, has to be deciphered in a straight line. (Hope this last bit helps.)

    ReplyDelete
  83. Yeah, that's how I got the 2 3-letter backwards words (**y **p) and the 4-letter pile of blue mush (which granny can make a word out of now that I look at it...so now I've got "y** p** m***" which still does nothing.)

    ReplyDelete
  84. need a little more help on 28 please, got the album tried using it in rot but am only getting gibberish

    ReplyDelete
  85. xaq,
You got it. But read it as what to put in the answer box :)

    ReplyDelete
  86. ... ... ...oh for crying out loud. *facepalm*

    RIGHT. ON TO 29. X_x

    ReplyDelete
  87. im having trouble moving the triangles in 24. any pointers?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Okay. Got past 29 and 30 thanks to the hints on here, I see the 3-letter word in the text box's title on 31, but...I'm not figuring anything out beyond that. :[ (Just when I thought I was back on a roll, too!)

    ReplyDelete
  89. Butterfly,
It´s a bit of trial and error, but of course one of the capital letters should be on top and the bottom right one should be the one with the questionmark because that´s the end of the question you will get when placing them correct.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Again I have tried everything on lvl 30. Nothing, nothing and nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Zoran think about a b that's often used in riddles

    ReplyDelete
  92. Need the "very, very big hints" for level 1 please. I was able to solve some of the prequel questions on my own but can't seem to get started on this one.

    ReplyDelete
  93. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Does the answer to 31 have anything to do with all the semicolons and hyphens that seem to just be thrown in everywhere?

    ReplyDelete
  95. Zoran: You may have to feel your way around a bit

Robin: Did you see all the other clues in the earlier comments? What else do you need?

    ReplyDelete
  96. Could someone please help me out a little on 28, I have 3 words but none of them are working.

    ReplyDelete
  97. xaq: you said you had 3 letters. Look at the same part of the page for another 3

    ReplyDelete
  98. rds665,
Are you sure you rotted correct?
One of the words should work.

    ReplyDelete
  99. 33: Got the message. No idea what to write in the box.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Candi: Try what you have

    ReplyDelete
  101. Candi,
How about trying the whole message as answer?

    ReplyDelete
  102. Seemed too big for an answer :)

    ReplyDelete
  103. thanks s-t, i was off by one letter, got it

    ReplyDelete
  104. A-ha! Thanks, Cee Bee!

    ReplyDelete
  105. I spent almost 3 hours on lvl 30, and nothing. I am so frustrating.

    ReplyDelete
  106. *stares blankly at 32* ... ... ...what the bleep?

    ReplyDelete
  107. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Zoran: It might help to break the image up into pieces. Say...oh, about 8 of them, sized about 2x3 a piece?

    ReplyDelete
  109. xaq, for 32, you have 3 extra lines on top, try to find a way to use them one at a time to make letters

    ReplyDelete
  110. lvl 31, don't see, hear or understand any of it. Googled, read most of the ciper tool sites, thought I understood the 3-letter part but it seems I lost track. Perhaps God's gift to women can help this woman ?

    ReplyDelete
  111. I can't turn my brain down (or up!) for 34...

    ReplyDelete
  112. Candi,
It's very basic. In fact it's only about the alphabet (but with a tiny twist).

    ReplyDelete
  113. Thanks everyone for help. got lvl30.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Oooo, I get it now. Thanks Donas.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Okay, wow. I have absolutely NO clue what to do with 33. (I think I deciphered the numbers correctly and got a message telling me not to do something, but beyond that...bwuh?)

    ReplyDelete
  116. nevermind, tried something ant it turned out OK

    ReplyDelete
  117. Once again, I sat on the answer b/c I didn't think it could be the answer.

    Lesson learned :)

    ReplyDelete
  118. Hey ST and John
    Just finished prequel 4
    Really fun
I hiop[e @ some opoint you will post WT on all of these including this magamonster
Thanx for all your work and help over time

    ReplyDelete
  119. Wow completely baffled on level 1
    Ugh!!!

    ReplyDelete
  120. Stucjk on 3
have been at it for 1.5 hrs

    ReplyDelete
  121. Joe ,for 3 ,you have to solve the puzzle first and note the initials of the persons on each (safe) transportation

    ReplyDelete
  122. I thought I might be on the right track with 33...I managed to make a 4-word phrase out of the numbers (d*** c***** d** o**) using all the numbers and just the ones on the right, but it's not working as an answer.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Joe M, it is a logic puzzle, you should find a similar one online. Try to get them all to the other side safely

    ReplyDelete
  124. xaq, look closely at the picture ans see if you can find a way to put the numbers on the rows. Some of them are different, once you fit them on the rows, make them different too, by using the numbers

    ReplyDelete
  125. Donas , i was about to leave a message for xaq but refreshed first! so we wont be each others echo tonight LOL

    ReplyDelete
  126. Donas: ... ... ...what? O__o;;;

    ReplyDelete
  127. xaq, d*** c****, is part of what you need to do. once you have assigned the numbers to the rows. Two of the rows have something different about them, right? Create the same difference on the other rows with the numbers

    ReplyDelete
  128. xaq, notice that 2 lines are different and try to "read"them, then for the rest try to "pick"as the numbers on the left say (notice their positions)

    ReplyDelete
  129. Okay, I think I've got the idea now, because I was able to work out 2 opposing words from the different lines. Apparently plugging the numbers into the lines from top to bottom doesn't work, though, because doing that just gets me a huge jumble of vowels and a couple of S's.

    ReplyDelete
  130. xaq,
You found words because some of the rows have gaps.
Make all the rows with gaps.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Could someone tell me what the dots and dashes are on level 22, I just can't make anything out of the picture?

    ReplyDelete
  132. That's what I was trying...I wound out with "id" on the first line (ignoring the d due to the "d*** c****" bit from the numbers) when I plugged the 4 in. Am I on the right track?

    ReplyDelete
  133. Cee Bee - level 1 is it words or just letters? How many words?

    ReplyDelete
  134. xaq,
First letter is correct, but you have to make gaps by taking a line away (not by just pushing them aside. That's what (don't) count is about.)

    pinkgirl9688,
They are in the columns on the right.
First two you will find would be ... and -
    No anagram.

    ReplyDelete
  135. cant say i totally understood you xaq ,but notice that the number 4 is on the right so count from the right of the 1st line to make a gap

    ReplyDelete
  136. I'm sorry, the image is just too blurry for me to see any dashes or dots

    ReplyDelete
  137. Robin: You are looking for 3 words on lvl 1. There are 4 different methods required to get all the letters you need, but they pan out in order, no anagram required The background flag is Italian whihc should tell you something if you done the prequels and the blue parts give another way to convert that you should also have seen in the prequels.

    Hope that helps

    ReplyDelete
  138. lvl 32, the order the words can be changed, it doesnt have to stay like in the photo?

    ReplyDelete
  139. Nope Zoran, they are already in the correct order.
Just find a logical way to use/place the top lines in the bottom thingies.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Okay, so I just need to take a line out of each line rather than--

BINGO!! Thanks for the help, guys! On to 34!

    ReplyDelete
  141. level 1 - do the three words start with w, o, and h?

    ReplyDelete
  142. Robin Rob, you've got the 1st and 3rd letters right, and the 2nd one is IN the 2nd word, but not at the start.

    ReplyDelete
  143. completely lost on level 23, don't understand any of the clues already posted

    ReplyDelete
  144. ...I think I overcooked my brain on the last level. I tried doing something simple with all the C's on 34, and granny was nice enough to make a cake out of it...but that didn't solve it.

    ReplyDelete
  145. pinkgirl - All of those words appeared in an earlier level, and had some numbers along with them.

Figure things out for the red words/numbers one way, and the blue words/numbers another way, and you should get the answer.

    ReplyDelete
  146. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  147. I think I have the blue words but don't know how to figure out the red words

    ReplyDelete
  148. Pinkgirl: All the words appear in one of the earlier levels. They have numbers associated with them. Go back about 10 lvls, you'll see them

    ReplyDelete
  149. I've got the numbers, and I think I figured out the blue numbers but don't know what to do with the red numbers

    ReplyDelete
  150. saw the earlier posts for 22, including the s/t clue which says the first spaces are read ... but it really looks like ..- on my screen, so are there any other hints that us vision-further-impaired-by-level-22-image players can get?

    ReplyDelete
  151. Unknown,
    It's not abolut the spaces!!!
It's about the black/grey dots between those spaces.
And it always starts at the left part of a column.
And the next morse part is always the same amount of steps/rows down in a column.

    ReplyDelete
  152. OK, I had the first two letters from s-t in a previous post. I was able to make out the next two, then the last 4, then I made a lucky guess as to the rest.
@Unknown, I can tell you it's a 4 letter word that starts with ST, then a 3 letter word, then a 7 letter word. I hope that helps.
    NO MORE NEWSPAPERS! EVER!

    ReplyDelete
  153. I don't know what to do with the red numbers on level 22.

    ReplyDelete
  154. what's left of my eyesight thanks you kindly - thank you s/t and zoz for clarifying.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Pinkgirl: I gather you mean lvl 23 not 22. You need two different methods for red vs blue words. It sounds as if you've found the blue method, look for another basic method to use on the red words. Combine the two in the order of the words on the pic and you should have your answer.

    ReplyDelete
  156. I've tried every basic method I can think of nothing seems to work

    ReplyDelete
  157. pinkgirl9688,
Red is picking letters from the words.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Just to be sure, is blue translating the numbers to letters

    ReplyDelete
  159. 36: I googled everything. I started w/ each word for picking letters, visited Granmaa, and have nothing.

    But...
Does it matter if I choose the game name or the generic item? And, should I select the first word google gives for the guy pulling on his face? Or the product it reminded me of invented in 1943? (<- See? I really did try :)

    ReplyDelete
  160. Candi: I assume you have all the items. There's another clue (2 in fact) that will tell you what you're looking for. Remember first things first for one of them

    ReplyDelete
  161. Took a break for a while, let my brain cool off, came back, and...

Still stuck on 34. I HAVE to be missing something pretty blatant here if I'm supposed to be able to get this with zero clues. The only thing I'm noticing is that the title and the picture have the same number of letters.

    ReplyDelete
  162. xaq: Think about what the C & V could stand for when you're thinking about alphabets

    ReplyDelete
  163. Can someone tell me who the second and third person on row 2 and second person on row 3 is on level 23, I can't figure out how to google the images seperately

    ReplyDelete
  164. @Cee Bee:

I suspected that: select five items and then pick letters. I'm sure of the first and second items, but don't have a fourth if I choose the item rather than the word google gives. If that makes sense.

In any case, I've worked everything I have and no joy.

    ReplyDelete
  165. @pinkgirl: I can't speak for anyone else, but I have a little snipping tool (downloaded for free sometime ago) that I use to capture images from my screen (kinda like print screen, but with the ability to select the area to capture).

I snip the bit of the picture that I want to google, save it, then upload it to google images to search.

I've found this faster than using paint or anything else. Hope that helps!

    ReplyDelete
  166. Oh. Right. Thanks Cee Bee.

Okay, what I came up with didn't look like a word (looked like 2 words with 1 slightly misspelled), but apparently that was it.

On to 35, then. Thanks Cee Bee!

  167. Candi: You need all 9 items in the pics before you do the first things first - do you have them?

Pinkgirl: Save the pic, then use something like Paint or Microsoft's picture manager to crop the piece you need. Google Images will do the rest for you

  168. Wow, I can't seem to get any of these on my own anymore.

    Can I get a little nudge on 35, please? ^_^;;

  169. xaq: the FIRST thing you have to do on lvl 35 is figure out how E=F. Apply one of the basic rules that you've been using from throughout this riddle to determine that.

  170. Thanks again Cee Bee, that's all I needed.

Now for 36 and ooooooooooh bleep this is going to be an interesting one...

  174. Butterfly - Take each animal...then do what his song's title tells you to do. What is each called then? (Hint: #1 is not called "steak.")

  175. Just to fact-check myself on 36: Is the broken word above the numbers meant to tell which order the names of the items go in?

  176. @pinkgirl, thank you - you are on the right track with your hint - 7 people, 7 birthplaces, 7 letters in the answer. Granmaa will help you. Thank you for sharing your idea.

  177. ty xaq- wasnt even thinking of that lol

  178. I know who all the people are and where they are born but I am not coming up with any words on level 27

  179. is it countries or cities for level 27

  180. Unknown: Not sure what you need - what do you have?

Pinkgirl if you have the right people and the right places granny will help you.

Xaq: you can put the items in a clockwise order as in the pic.

  181. Still on 36:
    9 items - r------, o------, t-----, n----, i---------, n---, e---------, s----- ---, v-----

First things first, I have a phrase and leftover letters. If i use the numbers/Granmaa, I get nothing. If i separate out the words that start w/ the letters of the green word, then use the numbers, I still don't have anything.

    I'm stumped.

  182. Is it first things first on level 27

    ReplyDelete
  183. Candi: I tried rearranging the items on the list to have their first letters spell out a 2-word phrase describing the center pic (t*** v****) ...I'm fairly sure that's the right way to go (though which N item comes first is beyond me), but I'm not getting anywhere at that point either.

  185. Candi & xaq: your list is right - use the basic rule & visit granny to see what you have to with it.

pinkgirl - yep that should work
