The clue for which swords to keep on the shields is on the carpet.
You can colour the shapes on the wardrobe with the quill pen.
Apples go in the second room.
Hm, although you can take them all back again. And there is a third room.
You only need to place a few of the apples - check the pattern on the wardrobe in the first room.
Pour stuff from jar into what looks like a bauble on the table in the third room, add red jewel for a code. Use code on the banners over the door.
Add green jewels to canopy over bed in third room.
Cogs and their lever go behind the RH curtain in the third room. That's it.
@ Clodagh- I am not able to put last green gem in the corner( just above the red navigation arrow)...How did you do it?? Also where is the clue for yellow-green dots ....

Got all 4 cogs in place. Have what I think is a lever, but have no idea how to "open" it. When I click on it, it zooms into the item. Do I need to use another item on it?

Found the lever pieces - was missing a couple keys. One from the yellow flowers in the first scene and one under the carpet in the last scene.
Correction that wasn't the lever, it was two pieces of a sword, which go in the hole under the two spears. That gets you a key for another drawer that contains the lever.
And i'm finally out.
Yeah, I finally figured that out. I kept trying to use the sword hilt as the lever haha.
Hi there - back from shopping. I had problems putting in the far right green gem too, but I just crept up on the slot stealthily from the left until I managed to sneak it in!
Oh dear - clue for the yellow-green dots. I can't remember where that was, I'm afraid. Sorry. Hope you've got it now anyway.

not green gem, but gear/cog thing. but can't place last green gem, how annoying.
doesn't matter how slow or careful or from what angle, backing out of room and coming back in, refreshing, etc., etc., etc...... green gem will not go into last spot. When someone makes these games, I wish they would pay attention so everyone is not wasting their time.
The green gem does go in, just drop it slightly to the left of the hole. It pops out if you go off the edge on the right.
I found the clue for the green dots, but I can't make it work. I think this was in the safe in the first room.
I'm missing the key for the safe in the 1st bedroom. Anybody able to help, please?
The dots needed to be the other way round to how I had them (can't remember now) switched the greens to yellow and yellows to green.
I'm so indoctrinated, that at first I didn't even try to go through the door into the second room without a key ...
Oh, Cougwife, I did open both drawers, but don't remember. Was it the shapes in the third room that gave one of them?
There are spots for keys given in the above hints. Is it one of them?
Ah I didn't get that! The feather-pencil is used on the blue glass kind of panel in the first room. That gives the pattern for what apples to place where.

Hi arrie NL. Nope, I rechecked all the hints above. I have opened everything else. It's just the safe (which I think must hold the 4th cog I am looking for.

First room:
Sword pattern on the carpet = KEY drops on the floor.
This key goes in the box in this room = cog.
There's an apple on the wardrobe, on the bed, in the basket. Take them all. (You don't have to use all of them, but something tells me you do have to collect all of them).
Another KEY in the vase with flowers, goes in lower drawer = part of a sword.
A green gem on the bedcurtain.
Take the feather from the bed, paint the blue wardrobe = pattern for placing apples in second room.
Go into the second room - don't need a key for that.

Behind the bed is the 'apple-safe' and to my surprise, no, you don't need to pick up any more apples. Placing the 6 apples = KEY. Goes in the brown box in the same room = cog.
Green gem on the lamp, behind the pillow.
Click the drawer-block, take the yellow stuff.
Into the third room.

A green gem behind the pink cushion, in the unicorn.
A KEY under the mat. Goes in upper drawer second room = sword heft. Complete the sword.
Behind the right curtain is a red ruby.
Behind the second from the right is the place for the cogs.
Zoom in on the green bottle, fill it with the yellow stuff, put the red ruby in.
Use the code you see there above the door = a KEY.
Use this key on the left box in this room = a cog.
We'll get there Cougwife!
IV.
Back to second room. Zoom in on the spears, click them, they are lifted. Use your sword in the hole = lol, guess only once: KEY.
This key goes in upper drawer in first room = a lever.
In this room, click on the flag above the door for the last green gem.
Go to room 3 and place the 6 gems above the fireplace, a scroll falls out of the chimney, which gives the pattern for the green/yellow dot panel above the couch. The ones connected stay yellow, the others become green.
It gives you a KEY.
This key opens the right box in the 3rd room = a cog.
Place the cogs, place the lever, pull the lever and voila, the door opens.
