Only 90 on my first go - pretty poor. I understood that Americans didn't really go in for Christmas, well these parades are very impressive!

ReplyDeleteI have always enjoyed these crystal hunts, except it always seems like there is one that I can never find.
Tringaling, Americans don't really go in for Christmas, but they eat up the pageantry and the marketing and the commercialization and the celebration that stem from it like hogs at a slop trough.

ReplyDeleteGot all 100! Some of these pictures are from the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in New York City. It's the opening of the Christmas season there. It is a tradition in our house to watch it while eating dinner, and then afterwards we put up our Christmas tree and the decorations for inside and outside. I think Americans are into Christmas big time! Up north, we always hope it snows so we can have a "White Christmas"

ReplyDeleteSorry - didn't mean to start a debate! I love these Crystal Hunters and have from the start when I first discovered the internet about 12 years ago. Christmas in Great Britain has become less religious and more about spending money - some daft people in Government don't want to upset non-Christians by making Christmas about Jesus too.
ReplyDeleteIn America, we call it the War on Christmas. Consumerism vs what the holiday is supposed to be about.
ReplyDeleteSmurf, whether you like it or not, Christmas has become ostensibly the most loved national holiday in a nation which promotes diversity and freedom of religion, and as such many if not most aspects of its celebration have become largely secular, and thus are enjoyed by people of any (or no) faith alike. I really don't see how one could consider this a bad thing, especially when you stop to think that the majority of Christmas traditions originate from pre-Christian "pagan" solstice celebrations, etc. anyway. "Peace on earth, good will toward men" is a sentiment we should ALL embrace, regardless of belief system, don't you think?

What question did you answer? And if you think a question was asked...does that make your answer the truth for everyone...or is it just your opinion?
