    ReplyDelete
  23. chinch- my earlier comment was close, you need a 4 digit coe that adds up to 32. Mine started 98XX. I'm not sure if any 4 digits that add up will do

    ReplyDelete
  24. thanks, enzed! maybe i have confused myself from trying all the combos!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Not getting the code behind picture?

    ReplyDelete
  50. jessicac, where did you enter the detective's name...and do you have a clue as to how to open the cabinet door by the door?...

    ReplyDelete
  51. on photo you use coin as sd for, there is a name in red. C _ _ _ _.

    ReplyDelete
  52. chinchilla cool, enter the detective's name found in picture...

    ReplyDelete
  53. the cabinet by the door unlocks i think when u put usb on tablet

    ReplyDelete
  54. got the happy Coin- the screensaver!

    ReplyDelete
  55. cate, enter it behind the painting , behind the desk. Click the painting for clue to remove it! And thanks jessicac! I forgot about that photo!

    ReplyDelete
  56. if anyone figures out the chain or the plant hotspot, let me know

    ReplyDelete
  57. Oops - Sorry Serial Spirit, just seen your post :(

    ReplyDelete
  58. Jess- you need to use another item to make the chain work

The plant only comes into play after the balloon

    ReplyDelete
  59. jessicac, when you enter the detective's name, you'll get an ampule of sorts, open it and use what you find with the long stick...THEN look in the plant hot spot and you'll have what you need to secure the chains.

    ReplyDelete
  60. jessicac after you get the silver thing from picture , open it. there is a pin inside. then put it in stick and pop the balloon. use the key on padlock. then use padlock on chain!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Thing alphabetical for birdy's. MILD ESCAPE

    ReplyDelete
  62. I dont have the key to the box next to the door and i dont have the chain down. Help!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  63. chris...you have to find the handle to place in the valve behind wooden panel...have you found this yet?

    ReplyDelete
  64. What do you have in your inventory Chris? I just got out

    ReplyDelete
  65. cate: no. I do not understand the scratch card either. I tried to find a pattern but i cant.

    ReplyDelete
  66. i have 4 birds, a scratch card, the happy coin, a regular coin, a tube, a pin, a candle and a lock.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Chris- have you scratched the card in the time honoured way?

    ReplyDelete
  68. For the scratchcard split the numbers into 2 parts- the first is simply an increasing number
The second is also a fairly simply series

    ReplyDelete
  69. enzed, yes, but i cant make sense of the numbers under the silver strip.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Im really lost
Three birds, SD, Card, Padlock, pin/straw/ coin, matches, candle.

Cannot find where to use SD

    Cannot lower chain

Cannot open brown lock wotsit to open second door

Watched and Watched the screensaver - no code for me

    ???

    ReplyDelete
  71. okay, scratch the card with the coin...the first number increases by one of the previous number, the next numbers are found by multiplying the previous number(after the first digit) by 3...so the final number would be 6_ _ _(multiply 81 by3).

    ReplyDelete
  72. **simple series** I mean

    ReplyDelete
  73. escapeartist- look at the wall by the barrel

    ReplyDelete
  74. Got it and got out. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  75. i can't open the thing with the wooden handle...aargh

    ReplyDelete
  76. escapeartist- if you have matches and a candle then maybe you have part of the answer!

Then use it in the device by the window

    ReplyDelete
  77. escapeartist...don't fret...use the screwdriver on the lower wooden panel by the barrel...don't worry about lowering chain or opening lock yet...as to the screensaver, think "mindescape" and the order of its letters.

    ReplyDelete
  78. *sigh*
    TY enzed

If Im reading your name right, we are from the same country......

    (shakey isles here.....)

    ReplyDelete
  79. and, have you opened the picture frame on shelf yet with coin?...that will help you along?

    ReplyDelete
  80. EA yes- ...and the southern of those for me

    ReplyDelete
  81. cate...any help on opening the thing?

    ReplyDelete
  82. enzed - as far as speights or closer to the wallabies/cheese?

    ReplyDelete
  83. Wow, glad you guys rescued Chris. I had to go back and restart.

    ReplyDelete
  84. what might be described as shakey central

    ReplyDelete
  85. i have to do something with the potted plant...to secure the chain on the barrel

    ReplyDelete
  86. No Jess- you need to do something with the balloon- the plant is just where you collect the item from afterwards. This then unlocks a very "key" item

    ReplyDelete
  87. Woop out
(and while cooking dinner at the same time)

    ReplyDelete
  88. oh...then i did that .... ha!

    ReplyDelete
  89. jessicac, have you popped the balloon?...if so, look in the plant hotspot for what falls...use that on the small green box on the shelf...with what you get, take it over to the barrel and lower the ceiling chain by turning the lower handle to the right...then, take your handy lock from the little box and secure the barrel chain to the above chain...and, then, turn the handle back to the left...it will raise the barrel and you'll find an item underneath...

    ReplyDelete
  90. Oh nice out that way....... too bad you could be a farmer and out in da field.......... bahaha

    ReplyDelete
  91. glad i caught this live! thanks all!

    ReplyDelete
  92. i still can't pop balloon,do i have to release it 1st,and what about the candle ?

    ReplyDelete
  93. kevaus...yes, and you do that with the candle and matches...then you can use the pin and tube to pop it.

    ReplyDelete
  94. thanks cate,but i can't find candles

    ReplyDelete
  95. matches,ooops ,have candle

    ReplyDelete
  96. do you mean the matches?...the candle you will find behind the large painting behind the computer after hitting the proper corners...the matches, i think were in the color box...

    ReplyDelete
  97. had opened colour box, went back to it,and there are the matches

    ReplyDelete
  98. Placed the usb but no screensaver for me...can't open the cabinet by the door...have the heart key...dear me what am i missing?

    ReplyDelete
  99. caroline, when you place the usb, look at the top middle of the screen...there is a new icon...click on it and watch what happens...then you can use your key.

    ReplyDelete
  100. thanks cate, no icon for me though...strange. oh well, I guess I can sleep on the sofa....lol

    ReplyDelete
  101. caroline...lumpy sofas are no good!...okay, when you put the usb into the computer on the right side, the computer screen should have 3 "mr. birdy"s, and a what i think is a skateboard icon on the top left...right beside that, a watch should show up...click on it and you should see a little movie of the grey cabinet opening.

    ReplyDelete
  102. caroline, have you unlocked the computer?...if the hippo is on the screen, then type in the code from the hippo when you started...then you should see the little birdies with the icons up above...

    ReplyDelete
  103. Thanks again Cate, not getting those birdies. I must have missed a step somewhere. I'm playing again - I'm sure I'll get it this time. )

    ReplyDelete
  104. good luck!...i'm turning in.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Got it this time...yay! Thanks Cate and to everyone for all the great hints.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  107. I'm looking for the scratch card as well. I've opened all other boxes except for the birdy box, I guess that code comes from the card if I ever find it.

It must be in some obvious place, but I just can't find it.

    ReplyDelete
  108. The scratch-card is under one of the Mr. Birdy's hats, Nadezda and Unknown.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Ok I'm stuck, I don't have the scratch card and have no clue where to find it, no one said where it was, therefore I don't have the handle to lower the chain or the key for the lock next to the door, help please

    ReplyDelete
  110. Thanks Clio!

I thought I had checked them before I placed them, but clearly not. Moving forward now. :)

    ReplyDelete
  111. Where is the hint for the 3 digit code of hippo at first scene?

    ReplyDelete
  112. This was ... FANTASTIC. And really worth the wait.

Superb game. And again I underestimated Tesshi's wit...just tried to enter HAPPY on the wall. Heh heh...

    ReplyDelete
  113. Last words addressed to a cannibal:

"Eat this lunch instead of me".

    ReplyDelete
  114. Got it. The numbers stop at the correct code. But the code 6235174 on the card did not tell much. Hard to think of total 32.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Where is the screwdriver?

    ReplyDelete
  116. for 32 enter 8888 and it works ;)

    ReplyDelete
  117. Sd is cb with pink numbers (count flowers according North ==> black N above the door)

    ReplyDelete
  118. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  119. 6235174 on the card did not tell much

Yup, not if it's interpreted the wrong way, i. e. ORDERS:

    L O T 2 A T 3

If we used the number on the card as-is

    6 2 3 5 1 7 4

and use numbers in order (my first attempt), we'd end up with

    A O T 3 2 L T

    Nonsense.

    BUT

    L O T 2 A T 3

    6 2 3 5 1 7 4

If we read it as such:

    [Take] 6th (of original #) 2nd (...) 3rd (...) 5th (...) 1st (...) 7th (...) 4th (...)

the 6th from the left is a T
the 2nd from the left is a O
the 3rd from the left is another T
    etc.

It's the same old thing as if you have 5 buttons

    [x] [x] [x] [x] [x]

    and you get a clue { 4 5 2 3 1 }

You can read it linearly as "press 4th, 5th, ..." or " '1' is rightmost button, so press it first; then press center button (#2)"

    ReplyDelete
  120. Wow... Yesterday a new TomaTea, today a new Tesshi... Christmas came early? :)

    ReplyDelete
  121. So bummed out.

This is like the 3rd Tesshi game in a row where I get halfway through it and it crashes.
It happens every time, in every browser, and only on Teshhi's games.
Very sad, as tesshi is one of my favorite game makers!
    Anyone else having this problem?

    ReplyDelete
  122. Well, I don't understand the TOTAL 32 thingy. Even if I had understood that the LOT2AT3 nonsense means TOTAL= 32, there are so many possible combinations for the 4 digits code ! Usually, Tessie's games are great, but this one is ruined since the beginning by this non-hint.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Anyone else having this problem?

I'm answering you with a question: are you on Linux too?
Here I can confirm this problem. I've just learned to live with it and save early & save often. :)

    ReplyDelete
  124. pdgph,
Imho that first code was great, exactly because you can use all those combinations.
8888, 9995 etc it all works when the 4 digits added are 32

    ReplyDelete
  125. arby, it does it with Linux, Win, and Mac for me.
I am at my wits end about it.
But I guess there is apparently a reason why Tesshi puts in a SAVE feature.
It really destroys the continuity, but at least it is playable.
Glad I am not the only one anyway, thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  126. I may be very wrong in this opinion, and pls forgive me if i am. However, in my experience 8 is the happiest number EVAHH, in Asian culture. Though I had no idea how to work out the clue, soon as i read (via your kind hints) that the total 32....i instinctively felt that we were to use 8888. How much happier can we get...4 x lucky. (Now here is where i get a bit fuzzy..but in my minimal understanding of Cantonese {Guangdongwah}, 8 (baht) rhymes with wealth (fah). I could be so very wrong and will not stand by one word of what i have just said. I confuse myself so often, that i am never sure if what i say is based on fact, or some sort of brain-fluff.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Nobody answered where you get the 3 digit number for first hippo and nobody said if there was a happy coin...

    ReplyDelete
  128. tautau asked and found the answer him/herself:

    tautau 1/30/15, 1:01 AM
Where is the hint for the 3 digit code of hippo at first scene?
    tautau 1/30/15, 1:41 AM
Got it. The numbers stop at the correct code.

Enzed gave a hint about the happy coin:

    enzed 1/29/15, 10:05 PM
got the happy Coin- the screensaver!

Not sure anymore, but I think when you had the end key the screensaver was different, I think there was a word and when reading it upside down it was a 4 digit code you use on the place you used a 4 digit code before and that gave the happy coin.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Enjoying the music very much!!! Makes the game all the better. Other game developers could take some clues from this fact.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Can anyone tell me where the handle to lower the chain is? Cate mistakenly said it was in the little locked box, but that contained a Mr. Birdy, and he was no help at all. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  131. I think the handle was in the 4 digit box.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Hi small, nope, that was the usb. Where do I use the code from the scratch card?

    ReplyDelete
  133. I don't think I've used the scratch card code. Hmm. Thanks small.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Got it. There were two codes entered in the four digit box. Thanks small, you got me thinking. lol

    ReplyDelete
  135. Fantastic game, te eeshie the best there is.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Yay, Tesshi-e! Oh my...game joy! Late as usual to the party but thanks for all the tips. Funny @Clio_Rose! I appreciated your brain fluff. You could spell "HAPPY" behind the movable pic as well as the other name. Was that just for fun? Thanks, Tesshi-e for the happy!

    ReplyDelete
  137. LOL @ Arby! I burst out laughing too....I would pay somebody to make that meal for me right now. yummm.

    ReplyDelete
  138. where's the hint for the tablet?

    ReplyDelete
  139. balloon is in contraption by window.

    ReplyDelete
  140. usb is from placing the 4 birdy.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Who don't have a stuffed dog in the own office?

    ReplyDelete
  142. Great game - puzzles were good but not impossible.

    ReplyDelete
  143. There's no word really to describe how I hated the "LOT3AT2" puzzle. I love Tesshi's games, but to me this was simply unfair. Tesshi's had puzzles that kpt me thinking for hours (literally), there were puzzles in his game that beat me - still when I learned the solution, I said OK, this was a good one that had me. But this one... I realized the numbers could be rearranged to say "total" almost right away, but that didn't take me any closer. Spent most oif an entire day of this puzzle alone, and now I feel thoroughly cheated - the first time for a Tesshi game :(

    ReplyDelete
  144. @Tania:

That's because the numbers stop, Tania. The puzzle solves itself just by pressing the buttons.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Poor chicken had to be killed for that meal... Not necessary... plenty of plant based foods out there!

    ReplyDelete
  146. Didn't find a fourth birdie the first time around, so giving it a go again. Should be possible, now that everybody's out.

    ReplyDelete
  147. I forgot to open the little box where we get the lock from.

    ReplyDelete
  148. At more complex games I often write down what is done and found.
So, for those playing in 2019, here a walkthrough.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Walkthrough part 1.

    Go to the hippo.
Click the numbers till they stop. This 3-number will be used inside the office.
For now it gives a card.

Click the door and left of it on the clue.
This clue is described in many ways in the comments.
So for now: it reads TOTAL 32.
Any 4 numbers that sum up to 32 can be used to enter the reception-room.
Put in your choice of number-combination and use the card.

    Desk-view.
Zoom in on the flowers - count them.
Zoom in on the painting. Below the corners is the order how to click them.
Doing this will give a candle.
There’s a safe, where a word is needed.
Zoom in on the screen, click it. Click the lock.
Use the hippo number to unlock. Wait till the screensaver appears. It reads: mildescape.

Click the screen again and the symbol up left to get a puzzle.
To solve this, follow the colors around.
    Start with green.
It’s up left, up right, down right, down left, up left, … so the next one will be: up right.
Do the same with the other colors.
    Zoom out and turn right.
Use this clue on the box at the upper shelf = spade key and matches.
Zoom out and in on the flowers - count them.
    Zoom out, turn right twice.

Take the coin from the chair and use it to unscrew the picture next to the entrance-door = diamond key.
The name of the detective on the picture is used to open the safe behind the painting = little container.
Click to open it and get a pin.
Back to the chairs, take the straw from the glass.

    Window-view.
Zoom in on the flowers - count them.
Zoom in on the middle doors of the cupboard at the window, use the spade key = Mr Birdy.
Zoom in on the right doors, use the diamond key = Mr Birdy.
Look above the entrance-door and notice the N, meaning North.
Use the amount of flowers in the South, East and West side of the room on the left doors of the cupboard = a screwdriver.

    Barrel-view.
Unscrew the panel next to the barrel = Mr Birdy and an opening.
Click this birdy’s head and get a card. Use the coin on the card to read a sequence of numbers.
The first ones of every pair go up, the last ones show they go up by multiplying with 3.
Use the outcome on the box on the shelf = a handle.
Place it in the opening and turn it once.
We need something to connect the chains.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Walkthrough part 2.

    Window-view.
Go to the apparatus on the cupboard, zoom in.
About item the candle, light it.
Place the candle in the apparatus. The warm air makes the balloon go up.
Click the balloon. About item the straw and place the pin in it.
Click this combination and click the balloon. Something dropped next to the plant = a key.

Use this key to take the lock from the box on the shelves next to the entrance-door.
Open the box for Mr Birdy.
Zoom in on the barrel and place the lock on the chains.
Turn the handle again, the barrel goes up.
    Underneath is a heart-key.

Place the 4 birdies on the shelf, use the screensaver for the order. What letter comes first in that word? = USB.
Put the USB on the right side of the screen.
Click the watch and see what happens.
Wait for the new screensaver and read a number.
Go back to the box on the shelf and use that number to get a happy coin.

Open the doorsafe and use the heart-key.
Go into the office of mr Y ….
Now that looks good. Bon Appetit !

    SPOILERS.
    Hippo number : 745
    screenpuzzle:
    green up right
    red up middle
    yellow right middle
The rest of this grid remains white.
    name detective: conan
    SEW : 654
    mild scratch: 1 2 3 4 5 = 6
    1x3=3, 3x3=9, 3x27=81, 3x81=243
    So the number is 6243.
Placing birdies according to ‘mildescape’ : mdsp
    New screensaver number 3371.

same when choosing the particular game from list
    bummer...

    ReplyDelete
  153. caught this one again from the random section

meanwhile I realized that I can play Tesshi-e in Chrome where I have less security settings than in my favourite browser FF (at least I think it's the reasion why it causes the issue mentioned in above comment of mine)

thx for all your creations, Tesshi-e ☺
& thx arrie for the WT
