  11. Chapter 18
The continuing saga of Jolly Boy and his friends James and Janice.

Oh no, medieval Jolly and the love of his era, are separated.
“If only my father knew you well, Florak, it would be alright …”
FlorakFlorika looks sad. “Can’t you do anything, Jolly?”
Jolly has a desperate look on his face.
But he has two good friends, James and Janice. And of course …

“Jolly! Florak!” James and Janice come running down the ages.
“Can you help us?” Florak is hopeful.
“Of course.” Janice looks around at the gate.
    So much to see here.
“Look up”, Jolly gives her his binoculars and Janice looks at the arrows, left on the stone wall. She looks carefully at the middle and sees the arrows moving. “James, can you write it down? Six colours … cyan … green … dark blue … light green … orange and pink!”
James takes his notebook and pen.
“There’s more up high Janice, look!” James points to the other side of the gate.
Janice zooms in on the grey dots and looks carefully at the middle one.
“James! More colours! But I don’t see an order.”
“Let’s wait then, Janice, we’ll find it, move a little to the right, what’s there?”
“We need to put in three numbers, but how do we get there …” Janice looks puzzled.
“You can climb up the little house if you’re careful”, Jolly is full of trust now. His friends can handle the situation.
“Here”, Jolly picks up a red squared stone from the ground and puts it in the inventory.
“And there’s dirt on the ground there.”
“We have to search for more and leave you alone now.” Janice looks a bit worried.
“It’s okay, just go!” Florak smiles bravely.

James and Janice walk on the bridge. They climb down and find an orange stone and an empty balloon.
They walk on to the left.
The marketplace is empty. A lot of medieval vegetables are there.
“Oh, great”, James says, “my waterbottle is still here, what a relief. I dropped it.”
Janice picks up a brush from the ground and a screwdriver off the table.
Yes, useful in all times ..
James takes the binoculars and looks at the wall … “Owls! The colours!”
Janice reads them out loud and a mirror drops in the inventory.
On the right tower, up high James sees shape number 5.
“And what’s on the left tower, James?”
“Some buttons that can differ in height.”
    No clue for it yet.

“Let’s go a bit further to the left …”

  12. On the wall they see shape number 4.
Janice picks up a woodpiece, and behind a box James finds a short sword.
    Oh, this is so encouraging!
“We need another 6-colour-clue, look up!”
“Yep, and that eagle is hiding something .. we need him to fly away!”
Yes, there’s still a lot to do.
“This water-pump with its’ hose can’t be opened with bare hands, we need a small tool.”
Janice laughs, she knows James loves riddles.

“Let’s use the sword on the two barrels at the bridge.”
James wants to focus on the job again.
Yes! No medieval game without a scroll ! James uses the sword on some wood here as well, and finds shape number 1.
“The shapes are used here on the bridge, see?”

They walk back to Jolly and brush the dirty stone …
“A 3-number” they all cry out.
Janice climbs upon the little house and puts the number in.
    She takes the purple stone.
“I know where to use the mirror”, Florak says, “there’s something inside the shed, right of the little house …”
And there’s the 4-number. James writes it down.
Up on the wall at the bridge they use the number and the wrench of course is for the water-pump.
    Now things develop fast.
The water runs out through the holes in the hose.
“The heights!” James runs to the left tower and sets the buttons to find matches.
He lights a match, sets the woodpiece on fire and waves at the eagle.
    A green stone is theirs.
“I want to drink something but the lid is stuck ..” James struggles with the bottle.
“Here, Janice says, “use the screwdriver”.
And shape number 2 shows up as well!

Then it’s time to open the scroll. Numbers …?
“Up here, the seven colours high upon the wall!”
    Jolly understands what to do.
“Okay, write down …. pink .. green .. blue … dark blue ..purple .. red.”
Janice runs all the way to the left and leaning out of the window she sets the colours on the wall.
She blows up the balloon to find shape number 3!
“Almost there guys!” Janice changes the shapes at the bridge and finds a blue stone.
James helps her to put the stones on the wall at the marketplace.
    …. Spinach ?? … In a tin can …. ?? What era is this ??

  13. But .. they know vegetables make you healthy and strong!
    “Here Jolly, have some.”
And if it really works? Or is it just in his mind?
Who can tell …. but eating it emboldens Jolly and the bars of the gate bow under his hands.
He hugs Florak and then the four of them sit down and talk about a strategy to win medieval Jollys’ father over.
Cause FlorakFlorika is such a sweet gal …
