Chapter 23
ReplyDeleteThe continuing saga of Jolly Boy and his two friends, James and Janice.
We didn’t know Jolly had a grandfather!
A grandfather who knows secrets about the past and about good treasures.
No grandson can resist that.
And so Jolly enters a scary era. It is 1975, who wouldn’t remember …
The year of Jaws, a Frankenstein movie … and when Jolly goes right ….?
This is not for the faint of heart.
His heart beats in his throat, but .. he’s got to move on.
He hears the silent whisper of a girl … “Jolly … pick up the crown …”.
That must be Janice … somewhere ..
When Jolly walks on to the right, he sees another crown.
“You need four …” the voice whispers.
One magnet .. and three numbers are needed.
Jolly walks into the house, a second magnet.
A stick/torch, he picks it up.
It’s so quiet in here, he looks up at the cage and sees arrows.
“Go right … “ the dark whispering voice (James?) pushes him forward.
Jolly looks into the box in the down left corner .. EEEKKKSSS a Barbie-doll.
He takes the square-shape, and dips the stick in the liquor.
Then he lights it on the right torch and walks on.
Those bats need to be stopped.
Three silver trophees, yeah … horseracing was very important in those days.
Moving on he finds a triangle-shape. So much to do here, all alone.
In the next room he finds an old bottle of cola. 1975 … what a year.
Jolly keeps on walking, magnet number three, another crown.
Now, what next?
“Light the fireworks outside ..” the dark creepy yet familiar voice informs him.
Awesome fireworks in the sky!
It’s so beautiful that Jolly does it again and again!
It’s 1975. Jolly goes to the cat-room and sets the year.
He opens the safe on the wall to the right with the key.
-- closed open closed … -- the locks two rooms to the right ! A canonball !?!
The bats !!
SCREEEK … the clock slowly falls down.
-- right left right left --?
Jolly sets the bars above the three silver trophees.
?!? What’s that ?!? “Emoticons …..” the female voice whispers.
Jolly climbs up the stairs and clicks the middle one and oh …. Frankenstein’s socks !! UGH ..
Almost too much to get the bottle opener in them, but he wants some cola, so, he does it anyway.
The cola has fossiled into dice. Real hard stones, Jolly throws them and look, maths!
the first one shows 6 dots, the second one … the third …
Jolly runs outside to set the numbers on the tree.

Jolly places the shapes on the wall inside and, after opening the box he squeezes the capsule open.
“Ohh a scroll !!” Of course, ancient times, 1975, one was writing on ones’ scroll!
‘Roses are soft, my love’, a famous song from that era can be used up the stairs.
Recorded on a black vinyl with tic … tic …. tic … on it.
But the telescope can be used to look at the full moon!
Jolly spots three red flags … that must be a warning.
He finds the place for them all to the right.
FOOD … yummy !! Jolly is hungry.
“Meow … “ he hears, an old fashioned cry … “meow ..”
What can he do? “Feed the cat …. “ the female voice (Janice?) whispers.
Another scroll …
“The arrows … heigh up, at the cage …” the dark voice (James?) tells him what to do.
A skin … a skin ???
“It’s teeth … look at its teeth ..” The male voice becomes urgent now.
“The magnets … the magnets …” The female voice joins in ..
“And the silver trophees!” Jolly knows what to do.
“A fourth crown !”
“Well done … “ the voices cry out together.
Jolly places the crowns on the statues and CLANGGGGGG !
A rusty box falls down.
A second scroll …
