  1. 2-3-4 puzzle. Clock hint - but not the colours for those numbers.

  2. Couldn't get the machine with eyes, tried with clean, dry-coated and moist-coated peony (?), checked VWT -- ʇno llɐq ǝɥʇ ƃuıʞɐʇ ʇnoɥʇıʍ ʎɹp ʎlǝʇɐıpǝɯɯı uǝɥʇ puɐ ʇsıoɯ ʇsɹıɟ -- don't know why. Could be that the Japanese text on the eye-machine was instruction for that.

Peony is a plant with round flowers, but I would not represent those flowers as smooth solid balls. Therefore I wonder if the translation is right.

  3. 牡丹餅 is adzuki bean mochi. The first two characters by themselves can be read as peony, but if you add the third it's a kind of sweet.

I wish I could figure out the clock hint as easily as I can look up Japanese translations. :(

  4. Also the poster is the clue for how to coat the ball. It says the inside is moist and the outside is dry.

Figured out the clock. Much simpler than I was trying to make it out to be.

  5. Many thanks, Chris! And now I'm not wondering any more, why we had to cover flowers with chocolate.
